A process for making SSZ-39 zeolite employing at least one organic structure-directing agent (OSDA), in which a substantial quantity of the at least one OSDA, which otherwise would be required to form a zeolite such as SSZ-39, is replaced by at least one quaternary ammonium or phosphonium compound (PFA) or a mixture of two or more thereof that is not itself an OSDA for making SSZ-39. A composition including at least one oxide of silicon; faujasite; at least one organic structure directing agent (OSDA) for making SSZ-39 zeolite; at least one PFA that is not an OSDA for making SSZ-39 zeolite; an alkali metal hydroxide; and water.

Process for SSZ-39 synthesis using modified reaction composition

An aluminosilicate zeolite comprising at least 90% phase pure AEI zeolite crystals, the crystals having a plate-shaped morphology. In embodiments, at least 50% of the crystals have at least one ratio in at least one pair of dimensions in the range from 3:1 to 20:1, and thickness of 30-100 nm. A process of making the AEI zeolite comprising reacting an oxide of silicon, faujasite, a quaternary ammonium compound comprising 2,4,4,6-tetramethylmorpholinium cation, alkali metal hydroxide and water at at least 100 C to form crystals of a zeolite having an AEI framework. A crystalline AEI zeolite having pores comprising a 2,4,4,6-tetramethylmorpholinium, cation. The zeolite may comprise at least 90% phase pure AEI zeolite with the 2,4,4,6-tetramethylmorpholinium cation within pores of the zeolite. In some embodiments the zeolite comprises crystals having a plate-shaped morphology and with the 2,4,4,6-tetramethylmorpholinium cation within pores of the AEI zeolite.

The present invention relates to novel ionic liquids comprising a docusate, docusate variant, or other sulfonate anion. The ionic liquids may be conveniently made via, for example, metathesis. The ionic liquids are often hydrophobic and useful in many hydrocarbon compositions, polymer compositions, and in supercritical carbon dioxide applications. The ionic liquids are capable of hindering static electricity buildup in the hydrocarbon compositions and can therefore minimize flammability and/or explosiveness.

Ionic liquids containing a sulfonate anion

The present inventions relate to novel ionic liquids comprising a Lewis acid anion such as AlRwherein y is greater than 0 and R is independently selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group and halogen group. The cation of the ionic liquids can be selected from ammonium, sulfonium, and phosphonium cations wherein said cation generally has less than 14 total carbon atoms. The anion may contain an organic bridge to bond neighboring aluminum atoms that would otherwise be susceptible to leaching aluminum trichloride. The ionic liquids are useful in many applications and particularly as catalysts.

Process for recovering organic hydroxides from waste solutions

In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for recovering one of an onium hydroxide and onium salt from a solution containing an onium compound involving the steps of charging the solution containing the onium compound to an electrochemical cell comprising at least two compartments, a cathode, an anode, and a divider, wherein at least one compartment comprises an ion exchange material; passing a current through the electrochemical cell whereby the onium hydroxide or the onium salt is produced; and recovering the onium hydroxide or the onium salt from the electrochemical cell.

In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for recovering an onium hydroxide from a solution containing an onium compound, including contacting the solution with a cation exchange material so that at least a portion of onium cations from the onium compound are adsorbed by the cation exchange material; contacting an acid with the cation exchange material to elute an onium salt; charging the onium salt to an electrochemical cell containing at least three compartments, a cathode, an anode, and in order from the anode to the cathode, a bipolar membrane and a cation selective membrane, and passing a current through the cell whereby the onium hydroxide is regenerated; and recovering the onium hydroxide from the cell. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for recovering an onium hydroxide from a solution containing an onium compound, including contacting the solution with a cation exchange material so that at least a portion of onium cations from the onium compound are adsorbed by the cation exchange material; contacting an acid with the cation exchange material to elute an onium salt; charging the onium salt to an electrochemical cell containing at least two compartments, a cathode, an anode, and an anion selective membrane therebetween, and passing a current through the cell whereby the onium hydroxide is regenerated; and recovering the onium hydroxide from the cell.

In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for recovering an organic hydroxide from waste solutions containing the organic hydroxide and impurities including the steps: contacting the waste solution with a metal ion scavenger to remove metal ion impurities; charging the waste solution to an electrochemical cell containing at least two compartments, a cathode, an anode and a divider and passing a current through the cell whereby the organic hydroxide is regenerated; and recovering the organic hydroxide from the cell.

In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for recovering organic hydroxide from contaminated solutions containing the organic hydroxide and impurities including charging the contaminated solution to a first electrochemical cell containing at least two compartments, a cathode, an anode and a size selective divider and passing a current through the first electrochemical cell whereby impurities migrate through the size selective divider; recovering a second solution containing organic ions from the first electrochemical cell and charging the second solution to a second electrochemical cell containing at least two compartments, a cathode, an anode and a divider and passing a current through the second electrochemical cell whereby the organic hydroxide is purified; and recovering the organic hydroxide from the second electrochemical cell. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for recovering onium hydroxide from contaminated solutions containing the onium hydroxide and impurities including forming a first solution containing an onium salt and impurities from the contaminated solution; contacting the first solution with a size selective membrane under pressure, wherein at least a portion of the impurities pass through the size selective membrane thereby providing a second solution containing an onium salt and a decreased amount of impurities; charging the second solution to an electrochemical cell containing at least two compartments, a cathode, an anode and a divider and passing a current through the cell whereby the onium hydroxide is purified; and recovering the onium hydroxide from the cell.

In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a process for recovering an organic hydroxide from waste solutions containing the organic hydroxide and impurities including the steps of precipitating the organic hydroxide from the waste solution as an insoluble salt; removing the salt from the waste solution and placing the salt in a liquid to form a second solution; charging the second solution to an electrochemical cell containing at least two compartments, a cathode, an anode and a divider and passing a current through the cell whereby the organic hydroxide is regenerated; and recovering the organic hydroxide from the cell.
