Embodiments relate to illuminated electrosurgical devices and related systems and methods. An electrosurgical device can include an electrosurgical blade having a proximal end and a distal end and comprising a dielectric coating, at least one of the electrosurgical blade or the dielectric coating including at least one light-guiding element, an optic having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end of the optic optically coupled to the proximal end of the electrosurgical blade, and a light source arranged at the proximal end of the optic and configured to provide light that is guided through the optic and the at least one light-guiding element to illuminate an area around the distal end of the electrosurgical blade.

Illuminated electrosurgical devices, systems and methods

An electrosurgical device including an elongated body extending from a proximal portion to a distal portion and defining an internal passageway configured to convey tissue from the distal portion to the proximal portion, and a coring electrode positioned at the distal portion of the elongated body, where the coring electrode is at an opening to the internal passageway, and where the coring electrode is configured to deliver electromagnetic energy to adjacent tissue to cut a volume of the tissue as the tissue is conveyed into the internal passageway.

A multipurpose electrosurgical device is configurable in a bipolar mode and a monopolar mode using a three-conductor electrical input. The device includes a switching mechanism that provides signals corresponding with a first function and a second function in a monopolar mode. A pulsatile fluid pump system includes a pump-valving assembly including a chamber and a diaphragm assembly coupled to the chamber and including a flexible diaphragm. The diaphragm assembly and the pump-valving assembly are configured as an integral pump assembly. The system further includes a linear motor having a magnet and a coil, the magnet moving in relation to the coil, the coil having an electrical input. The system also includes a control housing rigidly coupled to the linear motor and a controller system having an electrical output coupled to the electrical input of the coil, the controller system defining an electrical waveform at the electrical output to cause desired operation of the diaphragm. The integral pump assembly is configured to be removably coupled to the control housing, and the diaphragm assembly of the integral pump assembly is configured to be removably coupled to the linear motor.

Pulsatile fluid pump system

A hemostatic sealer includes a handle having a switch to activate a source of thermal energy and a thermal assembly coupled to the handle. The thermal assembly includes an electrically resistive material disposed on an electrically insulative substrate. The resistive material is coupled to the switch to receive the source of thermal energy.

A plurality of separation walls and a plurality of apertures can be arranged relative to the plurality of light elements to guide light from the plurality of light elements to illuminate an area around the distal end of the electrosurgical blade.

A modular surgical retractor including a handle and a blade. The handle includes a base and a neck. The neck projects from an end of the base to a tail region. The blade includes a head section and a blade member. The head section includes opposing side walls and a floor combining to define a slot sized to receive the neck. The blade member projects from the head section. The blade is removably attached to the handle. In some embodiments, a light source, such as an LED, is disposed within the neck and arranged to emit light along a face of the blade member. Two or more additional blades are provided, each additional blade including the head section and a differently configured blade member.

A pulsatile fluid pump apparatus includes an integral pump assembly employing a flexible diaphragm in a diaphragm assembly; a pulsatile fluid pump system including a control housing, for removably receiving the integral pump assembly, the control housing and the integral pump assembly being configured for operation, in a first mode, so that the pulsatile fluid pump system reciprocally actuates the diaphragm assembly to cause pumping automatically; and a manual driver assembly, wherein the integral pump assembly is configured, in a second mode, in the absence of actuation of the diaphragm assembly by the pulsatile fluid pump system, to removably receive the manual driver assembly to support manual actuation and operation of the diaphragm assembly.

A cartridge assembly to couple an electrosurgical device to treat tissue with an electro surgical unit includes a cartridge member to operate with a power delivery apparatus of the electro surgical unit and a fluid delivery apparatus of the electro surgical unit. An electrosurgical unit includes a power delivery apparatus and a fluid delivery apparatus arranged to operate with a cartridge member to be located in a cartridge receptacle of the electrosurgical unit. An electrosurgical device includes a first electrode spaced alongside the second electrode, with each electrode having a blade shaped member. Each blade shaped member has opposing sides bounded by edges, with the edges having a medial edge and a lateral edge. At least one fluid outlet is adjacent each blade shaped member, and each fluid outlet is in fluid communication with a fluid passage. The device can be operated as either a bipolar device or a monopolar device and includes a switch to inhibit capacitive coupling to one of the electrodes when the other electrode is used in monopolar fashion.

Electrosurgical devices, electrosurgical unit and methods of use thereof

The disclosure includes methods, systems and devices for severing and optionally removing at least a portion of heart valve leaflets. Leaflets can be partially removed or entirely removed or otherwise, the leaflets can be severed or splayed in such a way as to avoid coronary blockage, LVOT obstruction, or access challenges in procedures where a prosthetic valve is to be implanted within a previously implanted prosthetic valve. The disclosure also relates to numerous devices for and methods of disabling one or more valve ligating devices to provide an unobstructed valve opening so that a prosthetic heart valve can be implanted within the opening. The ligation device(s) is disabled either by removing the ligation device(s) or severing one leaflet so that ligated leaflets can be separated. In some embodiments, the ligation device(s) are severed to disable the ligation device(s).
