A support apparatus includes a bed frame with movable portions and a mattress supported on the bed frame. A control system synchronously controls inflation and deflation of at least one air bladder of the mattress and movement of at least one of the movable portions.

Mattress structure

An ambulatory assist arm apparatus for use with a patient support having a support surface and a frame includes a mounting bracket and a body. The mounting bracket is adapted for attachment to a first side of the frame when in a first position, and to a second side of the frame when in a second position. The body includes a first end defining a grip and a second end removably and pivotally connected to the mounting bracket by a pivot member for movement between a use position wherein the grip is positioned above the support surface when the mounting bracket is mounted in either the first or second positions, and a storage position wherein the grip is adjacent a first end of the frame when the mounting bracket is in either the first or second positions.

A chair bed including a bedframe and a mattress positioned on the bedframe is provided. The bedframe is configured to move between a substantially flat bed position and a chair position. The mattress includes an inflatable treatment apparatus such as a pulmonary rotational therapy device, a pulsation therapy device, or a decubitus ulcer treatment device.

Hospital bed having a rotational therapy device

A variable firmness mattress structure includes a plurality of longitudinally spaced apart, transversely extending air bladders and an air supply for filling each bladder to a respective desired air pressure to support a user at a desired mattress firmness. A control system for the variable firmness mattress structure includes at air controller cooperating with the air supply for filling the air bladders to desired air pressures and a hand-held controller in communication with the air controller. The hand-held controller is configured to receive a first input from the user indicating that a first desired mattress firmness currently exists and to transmit to the air controller a first signal corresponding to the first input. The first desired mattress firmness corresponds to a first set of respective desired air pressures in the bladders. The hand-held controller is further configured to receive a second input from the user indicating a desire to restore the first desired mattress firmness and to transmit to the air controller a second signal corresponding to the second input. The air controller responds to the second signal by restoring the first set of respective desired air pressures in the bladders.

A retention apparatus is provided for mounting a blower unit for an air mattress to a bed frame member. The blower unit retention apparatus includes a pair of retention brackets, each including a U-shaped member having a base portion and a pair of outwardly projecting arms defining a slot for receiving the bed frame member. A locator pin is configured for insertion through oppositely disposed openings formed in the projecting arms of each of the retention brackets for securing the bed frame member between the locator pins and the respective base portions. An upstanding post is mounted to each of the two retention brackets for reception in a corresponding opening in the blower unit housing to secure the blower unit housing to the bed frame member.

Blower unit retention apparatus

A hydrotherapy mattress assembly which includes an air-over-foam core, a base for receiving the air-over-foam core, and a top cover overlying the air-over-foam core. The top cover provides a patient support surface and includes a drain trough. The drain trough is coupled to a drain which extends through the air-over-foam core and the base, so that liquids can be drained from the patient support surface.

Air-over-foam mattress

A support assembly for a mattress, the support assembly comprising compressible blocks having individual degrees of firmness, and a sleeve defining spaced-apart pockets holding the blocks therein, the sleeve positioning the blocks adjacent one another and the sleeve being composed of a material having a slippery outer surface permitting individual compression of the blocks so that each compressible block moves in a vertical direction independently of adjacent blocks to enable at least two-dimensions of firmness zoning.
