A method and infrared sensing device for determining the concentration of alveolar alcohol in a breath sample exhaled by a subject into an infrared sensing device. The presence of alcohol from the upper respiratory tract of the subject is detected by continuously monitoring alcohol and carbon dioxide, normalizing alcohol values with respect to carbon dioxide, calculating a difference between normalized alcohol concentration and carbon dioxide concentration over time, integrating (summing) the difference, and comparing the integrated difference with a threshold. This technique accurately and consistently detects the presence of mouth alcohol in the sample before the presence of carbon dioxide which originates in deep lung breath.

A robot in the form of a toy simulating a spider is provided wherein the robot is capable of maintaining balance while walking, turning and running in a race-type setting on level ground and over a ramp or small obstacles. A preferrred embodiment of the robot has four operatively cooperating legs which are remotely controlled by a motor on each of the left side and the right side of the robot. A gear reduction mechanism to improve torque is considered. The operative cooperating legs are designed such that alternate legs on each side are in a DOWN position when mirrored legs are in a DOWN position, thereby providing balance while walking with four of the eight legs in a DOWN position while remaining legs are in an UP position.

An 'L' shaped plate includes a mounting flange, with a first plate of the 'L' shaped plate including plural pairs of spaced slots spaced apart a predetermined spacing to define a slot pair, wherein each slot pair is arranged for receiving a locking member, including a 'U' shaped configuration with spaced exteriorly ribbed legs receivable within a slot pair to secure a wire member therewithin, wherein the mounting flange is arranged for securement to a construction stud. A modification of the invention includes the first plate with conical sealing plugs arranged for directing through openings within a top plate of a construction to effect sealing relationship between the top plate and a wire member directed therethrough.
