A system and method for reducing lifting cost per gallon of a vertical water well of this disclosure includes: lowering a location device into the open well bore of the vertical water well until the location device reaches a depth in a range of 0 feet to 30 feet above a bottom end of the vertical water well; determining a predetermined location vertically offset 10 feet to 30 feet below, and coaxial to, the bottom end; drilling, from a horizontally offset position, a horizontal water well using a boring/drilling assembly including a signal transmitter; determining, using signals transmitted and received, a location of the boring/drilling assembly relative to the predetermined location; steering the boring/drilling assembly so that the horizontal water well intersects the predetermined intersecting well depth; intersecting the predetermined location with the boring/drilling assembly; and extending the depth of the vertical water well until it reaches the predetermined location.

Deep horizontal water well

A pressure response fracture port tool and method for its use reliably provides a noticeable indication at surface to an operator as to when the flow port is opened. The tool includes an outer housing and a sliding sleeve which resides within the outer housing. The outer housing has a first and second set of flow ports. The inner mandrel moves between a first position and a third position to expose the flow ports to the wellbore. The first set of flow ports, with its smaller area relative to the second set of flow ports, creates a noticeable pressure increase or spike that can be observed at surface when exposed to the wellbore. The second set of flow ports creates a noticeable pressure drop when it is exposed to the wellbore.

Disclosed herein is a wellbore servicing system, comprising a tubular string, a first sleeve system incorporated within the tubular string, the first sleeve system comprising a first sliding sleeve at least partially carried within a first ported case, the first sleeve system being selectively restricted from movement relative to the first ported case by a first restrictor while the first restrictor is enabled, and a first delay system configured to selectively restrict movement of the first sliding sleeve relative to the first ported case while the first restrictor is disabled; a second sleeve system incorporated within the tubular string, the second sleeve system comprising a second sliding sleeve at least partially carried within a second ported case, the second sleeve system being selectively restricted from movement relative to the second ported case by a second restrictor while the second restrictor is enabled.

System and method for servicing a wellbore

A wellbore servicing system, comprising a first sleeve system, the first sleeve system comprising a first sliding sleeve at least partially carried within a first ported case, the first sleeve system being selectively restricted from movement relative to the first ported case by a first restrictor while the first restrictor is enabled, and a first delay system configured to selectively restrict movement of the first sliding sleeve relative to the ported case while the restrictor is disabled.

A surge chamber assembly () for use in a wellbore includes a housing () having one or more openings (), a surge chamber () and a combustion chamber (). The openings () provide fluid communication between the exterior () of the housing () and the surge chamber (). A sleeve () is slidably positioned within the housing () and has a first position wherein fluid communication through the openings () is prevented and a second position wherein fluid communication through the openings () is allowed. A combustible element () is positioned in the combustion chamber () such that combusting the combustible element () generates pressure in the combustion chamber () that actuates the sleeve () from the first position to the second position.

Surge chamber assembly and method for perforating in dynamic underbalanced conditions

A platform is used to deliver a tool down a hole by controlling the flow of fluid through and around the platform. The platform has a top surface for receiving the tool. The platform also has a bottom surface to provide guidance through and resistance to the flow of fluid. The lower surface of the platform can be engineered to steer the platform against an inner wall of the casing. This slows the descent by adding mechanical friction to its descent. The lower surface can also be engineered to add a predetermined amount of resistance to the flow of the well fluid across it. A stop on the casing already in place in the well stops the descent of the tool at a desired depth. Once the tool is no longer needed, a fishing tool can be lowered from the same crane to retrieve the tool and platform. Use of a crane substantially decreases the cost of the operation compared to the need for a rig.

Platform for delivery of downhole tools

A latching system permits a firing head to be lowered into a wellbore and reliably coupled to a perforating gun previously lowered into the wellbore. In a disclosed embodiment thereof, the latching system includes a tubular collar associated with the firing head, and a stinger associated with the perforating gun. As the firing head approaches the previously lowered perforating gun, shearable studs projecting into the interior of the collar are received in external side surface J-slots formed on the stinger. The latching of the collar studs in the stinger J-slots permits the firing head/perforating gun connection to be verified simply by pulling up on and creating increased tension in the structure, such as a slick line, used to lower the firing head to the perforating gun. After the firing head is used to detonate the perforating gun, the spent firing head may be retrieved by pulling it uphole with sufficient force to shear its collar studs. Cooperating auxiliary attachment structures are formed on the firing head and perforating gun to facilitate their interconnection and simultaneous lowering into the wellbore if desired.
