A method for providing information by optimizing the data rate to a vehicle over a three-phase power line utilized to provide power to the vehicle is described. The method includes assigning three separate frequency bands to three respective conductors extending between a ground power system and the vehicle, generating carrier signals in three separate frequency bands and modulating various data onto three carrier signals to generate three transmission signals for sending the various data from the ground power system to the vehicle at frequencies within respective ones of the three separate frequency bands. The frequencies for each of the three separate frequency bands do not overlap one another. The method also includes switching the three transmission signals onto respective conductors of the three-phase power line, demodulating the various data within the vehicle, and providing the various data to one or more vehicle systems.

Methods and system for increasing data transmission rates across a three-phase power system

Systems and methods to exchange data between a vehicle and a remote computer system, are disclosed. In one embodiment, a system to exchange data between a vehicle and a remote computer system comprises at least one power line adapted to couple to the vehicle, a local area network, a modem coupled to the local area network and the at least one power line, and a power line interference server comprising logic to allocate communication channels within a specified frequency range on the power line. Interference mitigation for broadband over power line

A method for providing information by optimizing the data rate to a vehicle over a three-phase power line utilized to provide power to the vehicle is described. The method includes generating carrier signals in three separate frequency bands, modulating various data onto the three carrier signals to generate three transmission signals, switching the three transmission signals onto respective conductors of the three-phase power line, demodulating the various data within the vehicle, and providing the various data to one or more vehicle systems. The three transmission signals are dynamically monitored such that the three frequency bands are controlled to optimize a data rate of the transmission.

A system and method for communicating audio or video information using inductive magnetic coupling between first and second adjacent seats on a mobile platform. A transceiver at the first seat receives signals from an in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. The signals are passed to a transmitter subsystem that generates low power inductive magnetic energy which is received by a receiver subsystem located on the second seat. The energy is converted to electrical signals for generating an output signal to an audio jack associated with a personal control unit (PCU) at the second seat. The audio content can then be used at the second seat together with video content displayed on a video display unit at the first seat, without affecting the synchronization of the audio signals and the video signals.

Wireless audio transmission of information between seats in a mobile platform using magnetic resonance energy

During a system reconfiguration, a selected column or column of wireless units, such as associated with airplane seats, are powered up. The first unit in the column detects a ground and begins a wireless identification process with an access point which allows the system to determine a corresponding physical location for each node's logical address. The first unit then closes a switch, which connects the ground to the next unit. As the next unit detects the ground on the line, such as a token line, the second unit communicates with the AP. This process continues sequentially down the column until the last unit is assigned a physical location/address. The next column of units can then be powered up and identified.
