A computer system including a chassis having two spaced apart walls, a transverse wall attached between the two spaced apart walls and a door pivotally attached to a first one of the two spaced apart walls. The door is movable between an open position and a closed position with respect to a second one of the two spaced apart walls. A first retaining pin is attached to the transverse wall. A second retaining pin is attached to the door. A mechanism is attached to the chassis for securing the door in the closed position. A peripheral device is mounted in the chassis. The first retaining pin is engaged with a first mounting hole in a first face of the peripheral device and the second mounting pin is engaged with a second hole in the second face of the peripheral device. The hinged or removable door allows the peripheral device to be cabled to the other components inside the computer before they are installed in the chassis. Cabling the peripheral device in the computer before it is securely mounted allows for easier access to the back of the peripheral drives where the cables are to be connected, resulting in faster and easier installation time.

Apparatus and method for mounting a peripheral device in a computer system

A peripheral device mounting system including a peripheral device having a pattern of threaded holes formed therein, a chassis configured to receive the peripheral device, a mounting bracket and a member for engaging an adjacent edge of a computer system chassis to secure the peripheral device relative to the chassis. The mounting bracket includes a main wall, spaced apart walls, and a protruding member attached to one of the spaced apart walls. The protruding member is configured engagement member.

Apparatus for mounting a peripheral device in a computer system

A computer system including a chassis having a wall with a raised mounting portion protruding therefrom and a mounting flange attached adjacent to the wall. A peripheral device is pivotally mounted on the mounting flange. A resilient damping member is positioned adjacent the wall for being engaged by the peripheral device. The resilient damping member is compressed from a first height to a second height in response to the peripheral device being pivoted from a first position to a second position for reducing impact loadings associated with installing the peripheral device in the computer system. The resilient damping member controls the impact imposed on the peripheral device.

Impact damping system for peripheral device

A computer system including a chassis having a plurality of walls forming a cavity. The computer system further includes a peripheral device positioned in the cavity. A retention clip movable between an open position and a closed position is attached to one of the walls. The retention clip includes an arm portion and a retention flange. The retention clip retains the peripheral device in a supported position relative to the chassis when in the closed position so that a fastener member can be engaged with the peripheral device.
