Disclosed is an aqueous ink composition including between 1 and 40 weight % of a water dispersible resin, between 0.5 and 15 weight % of a colorant, between 20 and 80 weight % of water and between 1 and 30 weight % of an acetal cosolvent, wherein all amounts are relative to the total ink composition. The ink composition may further include between 15 and 75 weight % of a dispersion stabilizing cosolvent.

Ink composition

A meltable ink composition, which is solid at room temperature and liquid at elevated temperature, which ink composition is suitable for use in an inkjet printer, the ink composition being provided with a resin which contains a compound which is the reaction product of a di-alkanolamine and a monofunctional aromatic acid and optionally a difunctional acid.

Meltable ink composition

An ink composition for a meltable ink usable in a printing apparatus in which ink droplets are ejected from ink ducts, the ink composition containing an amorphously solidifying monomer compound, which compound shows a crystallinity of less than 1% when a melt of the compound is cooled at a rate of 5&deg; C./min to past its solidification path and is then heated at a rate of 20&deg; C./min to above its melting temperature. The monomer compound can be used in a binder for the ink composition. When inks of this kind are transferred to a receiving material, it results in greater stability in the printed layers, with respect to gum, scratch, fold resistance and transparency.

Ink composition for a meltable ink

An ink composition for a meltable ink, usable in printing devices in which ink droplets are ejected from ducts, which composition contains a meltable base material, wherein the ink composition also contains an amorphously setting monomer compound and an amorphous polymer or oligomer binder and the base material is a crystalline-setting monomer compound. The flow and setting properties and the stiffness of the ink is adjusted by the choice and relative proportion of the constituents.

Charge-transporting compounds which form substantially colorless layers having a minimal residual charge and a good cleanability are disclosed. These compounds are of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R1, R2, and R3, individually, represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms. Also disclosed is a photoconductive element containing a charge-generating compound and a charge-transporting compound of the general formula shown above which is homogeneously distributed in a binder. The charge-transporting compounds of the general formula are very soluble in various solvents and film-forming polymers providing for great maneuverability in processing the compounds into layers.

A copying process in which a pattern of charged and uncharged areas is superimposed on a charge image by charging and exposing image-wise an electrophotographic element which is provided with a charge-transporting top layer having therebeneath a charge-generating layer which can inject charges into the charge-transporting top layer at areas corresponding to said pattern of uncharged areas, but cannot inject charges into the other areas of the charge-transporting top layer. The charge image is developed with a developing powder having a resistivity of less than 10.sup.12 ohms.multidot.cm and the resulting powder image is transferred to a receiving material and fixed thereon. The pattern of charged and uncharged areas is provided to produce a uniform light-grey image where desired.

Copying process with patterned charge injection into charge transport

A multi-layered electrophotographic element providing significantly improved properties, and especially so for use as a 'permanent' master in transfer photocopying, comprises a conductive support carrying a photoconductive charge generating layer and on top of the photoconductive layer a charge transporting layer containing homogeneously distributed in an insulating binder a charge transporting agent selected from among certain azines which may comprise one or more alkylsubstituents and/or heterocyclic groups with at least one nitrogen atom and/or phenyl or naphthyl groups. The charge transporting layer may also contain to advantage an activator for the charge transporting agent. Particularly effective activators are terephthalal dimalonitrile (TDM) and 1,3,7- trinitro-dibenzothiophene-5,5-dioxide (DBTO). The charge transporting layer preferably is applied to a very thin charge generating layer formed on an endless support, and which contains the charge generating compound in molecularly divided form. Photocopying can be carried out with enhanced permanence of the usefulness of the element by charging the element for each copying operation to not more than about 70% of its maximum chargeable surface voltage.
