Pre-operative determination of implant configuration for soft-tissue balancing in orthopedic surgery

Systems and methods of radiograph correction and visualization are disclosed. Certain embodiments provide a method for generating a 3D model of at least part of one anatomical object based on one or more radiographs. The method further includes positioning the 3D model based on information indicative of a normalized projection comprising information indicative of a desired position and orientation of the at least part of one anatomical object with respect to the projection plane. The method further includes generating a 2D projection of the 3D model onto the projection plane. The method further includes generating one or more modified radiographs of the at least part of one anatomical object based on the 2D projection.

System and method of radiograph correction and visualization

A two-step approach for image segmentation during the treatment planning process is disclosed. In a first step, an automatic segmentation method can be used to generate a first, provisional segmentation. The first, provisional segmentation may be generated using fast, but less accurate segmentation methods. The first provisional segmentation may be used to generate a default treatment plan for approval. Once the default treatment plan is approved, a more robust, second image segmentation may be performed. The second segmentation may be used to design patient-specific devices that can be used to deliver the patient-specific medical treatment.

System and method of improving surgical devices using captured images for efficient surgical plan development

The present invention relates to an adaptable therapeutic, diagnostic or surgical guide for an intra-operative adjustment of a guidance element to a pre-planned position. An advantage and innovation of the present invention is that it provides a template or guide that adapts in a controlled way to a changed intra-operative anatomical situation compared to the default planned situation. This adaption maybe purely positional but it may also include force feedback. Feedback, either visual feedback or force feedback that results in an adjustment of a guidance element is also an aspect of the present invention. For example, the feedback can contain information either about the fit of the guide or template onto a bone (in case the guide or template fits onto one bone) or about the relative position of two bones of bone fragments (e.g. ligament tension between the femur and tibia).

Adaptable therapeutic, diagnostic or surgical guide

The present invention is related to a method for re-enabling transport by means of a magnetic field gradient transport mechanism of magnetic beads comprising a ligand in a solution on top of a surface comprising a receptor bound with said ligand, comprising the step of changing the properties of said solution such that dissociation occurs between said ligand and said receptor, and such that a sufficient repulsive interaction is created between said surface and said bead to allow transport of said bead.
