A method of manufacturing a decorative surface includes the steps of a) impregnating a paper substrate with a thermosetting resin; b) jetting a colour pattern with one or more aqueous inkjet inks including a polymer latex binder on the thermosetting resin impregnated paper; c) drying the one or more aqueous inkjet inks; and d) heat pressing the thermosetting paper carrying the colour pattern into a decorative surface.

Radiation curable compositions for food packaging

A method for manufacturing decorative surfaces includes the steps of a) inkjet printing an image on a first thermoplastic foil using a pigmented UV curable inkjet ink; b) applying a second thermoplastic foil on the inkjet printed image; and c) heat pressing the first and second thermoplastic foils into a decorative laminate; wherein the pigmented UV curable inkjet ink contains a polymerizable composition having 30 to 70 wt % of monofunctional polymerizable compounds and 30 to 70 wt % of polyfunctional polymerizable compounds, the weight percentage wt % is based on the total weight of the polymerizable composition; and at least one of the first and second thermoplastic foils is a transparent foil.

A method of inkjet printing a color image including a metallic or pearlescent color includes the steps of applying on part of an ink receiver a layer containing a pearlescent or metallic pigment having a volume mean particle size of at least 3.0 &#x3bc;m as measured by laser diffraction; and inkjet printing on part of the layer containing the pearlescent or metallic pigment a layer with a white inkjet ink containing a white pigment having an average particle size between 250 and 400 nm as measured by differential centrifugal sedimentation.

A method of inkjet printing a color image including a metallic or pearlescent color includes the steps of applying on part of an ink receiver a layer containing a pearlescent or metallic pigment having a volume mean particle size of at least 4.0 &#x3bc;m as measured by laser diffraction; and inkjet printing on part of the layer containing the pearlescent or metallic pigment a layer with an opaque color inkjet ink containing a chromatic color pigment and a white pigment.

An aqueous inkjet ink contains: a) a color pigment; b) an alkoxylated fluorosurfactant; and c) an ethoxylated oligomer having a molecular weight smaller than 400; and has a static surface tension at 25&#xb0; C. of no more than 28 mN&#xb7;m; and a viscosity between 5 and 12 mPa&#xb7;s at 32&#xb0; C. at a shear rate of 1,000 s.

Aqueous inkjet inks

A method for manufacturing decorative surfaces includes the steps of inkjet printing a color pattern with one or more aqueous inkjet inks including a polyurethane based latex binder; impregnating a paper substrate with a thermosetting resin; and heat pressing the thermosetting resin impregnated paper substrate carrying the inkjet printed color pattern into a decorative surface.

A method of manufacturing metallic articles from a metal substrate includes the steps of: a) jetting an image with a UV curable inkjet ink on at least one surface of the metallic substrate; b) UV curing the image; c) electroplating or acidic etching the at least one metallic surface not covered by the UV cured image; and d) stripping or solubilizing the UV cured image by an aqueous alkaline solution; wherein the UV curable inkjet ink has a viscosity of no more than 100 mPa&#xb7;s at 25&#xb0; C. and at a shear rate of 1,000 s; and wherein the UV curable inkjet ink contains a specific polymerizable composition and up to 20 wt % of photoinitiator including at least one of an acyl phosphine oxide photoinitiator and a thioxanthone photoinitiator.

Digital fabrication of metallic articles

A radiation curable liquid includes at least one free radical polymerizable monomer or oligomer, at least one diffusion hindered acetalyzation catalyst, and at least one diffusion hindered hydroxyl containing compound. The radiation curable liquid applied to a substrate prevents migration of very low viscous monomers, such as vinyl ether acrylate monomers, into the substrate.

Curable liquids and inkjet inks for food packaging applications

A free radical radiation curable inkjet ink having a viscosity smaller than 30 mPa&#xb7;s at 40&#xb0; C. and at a shear rate of 1,000 sincludes a polymeric or polymerizable photoinitiator; a thiol compound; and a vitrification control monomer.
