A dynamically vulcanized alloy contains at least one isobutylene-containing elastomer and at least one thermoplastic resin, wherein the elastomer is present as a dispersed phase of small vulcanized or partially vulcanized particles in a continuous phase of the thermoplastic resin. The dynamically vulcanized alloy also contains an anhydride functionalized oligomer. The alloy maintains a high Shore A hardness value while obtaining improved flowability for processing.

Elastomeric compositions and their use in articles

Aspects of the invention include a method of curing a rubber composition comprising providing a rubber; intimately contacting a curative agent with the rubber; wherein the curative agent consists essentially of a phenol formaldehyde resin, a metal oxide and a carboxylic acid metal salt. Another aspect of the present invention is to a method of curing a rubber composition comprising providing a rubber; intimately contacting a curative agent with the rubber; wherein the curative agent comprises a phenol formaldehyde resin and carboxylic acid metal salt; and wherein halogen-donating species are absent from the rubber and curative agent.

Curing of rubbers and thermoplastic vulcanizates in the absence of halogen donors

A thermoplastic vulcanizate comprising of a dynamically-cured rubber; and a thermoplastic phase, where the thermoplastic phase includes fiber and the reaction product of a methylene donor and a methylene acceptor. The thermoplastic phase could include a functionalized thermoplastic resin.
