The disclosure provides a steering system for a vehicle. The steering system may include a steering rack and an electronic power steering (EPS) system. The EPS system may include an actuator that assists movement of the steering rack, a torque sensor; an angle sensor; and an EPS system controller. The EPS controller may be configured to determine a steering rack center point indicating a center of the steering rack between opposite maximum steering angles. The EPS controller may be configured to determine a vehicle center zero point. The EPS controller may be configured to store the vehicle center zero point in response to determining that the vehicle center zero point is within a threshold of the steering rack center point.

Setting vehicle center in electronic power steering system

A Hill Start Assist (HSA) system for an off-road type vehicle includes a brake system for producing a braking force sufficient to maintain the vehicle in a stopped condition, and a control unit in communication with the brake system for controlling a brake modulator of the brake system to maintain the braking force when a manual brake actuator of the brake system is in a released position. The HSA system is operable in a ready state where the brake modulator is in an open condition and the braking force is not maintained, an activated state and a hold state where the brake modulator is in a closed condition and the braking force is maintained. The HSA system is only in the ready state upon determination by the control unit that predetermined vehicle conditions are satisfied.

Vehicle control system

A Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) for an off-road type vehicle includes a 2WD/4WD switch adapted to switch a drive mode of the vehicle between a two-wheel drive mode (2WD) and a four-wheel drive mode (4WD). The switch is configured to be manually activated by an associated vehicle operator. A control unit is in signal communication with the 2WD/4WD switch. The control unit is operable to activate the BTCS only if the drive mode is switched to the four-wheel drive mode and predetermined vehicle operating conditions relating to engine throttle position or opening and wheel speed are subsequently satisfied.

A vehicle having an engine is disclosed. The vehicle includes an exhaust pipe receiving exhaust gas from the engine and a muffler connected to the exhaust pipe. An oxygen concentration sensor is disposed in a boss defining a port in the exhaust pipe. The boss includes a diameter greater than a widest dimension of the oxygen concentration sensor which may be in the form of a fin.

A vehicle includes a frame, a steering assembly, an engine, a seat, an intake assembly, at least two electrical conductors, and an electrical coupler. The intake assembly includes a snorkel and a cover member. The snorkel includes an inlet and outlet port. The inlet port has a neck portion that defines an opening. The cover member is in fluid communication with the inlet port of the snorkel. The electrical coupler is engaged with the at least two electrical conductors and is configured to facilitate selective manual electrical disconnection of the at least two electrical conductors. A first imaginary plane intersects the opening and is substantially horizontal. A second imaginary plane extends laterally across the vehicle, intersects the opening, and intersects the first imaginary plane at a right angle. The electrical coupler is disposed entirely above the first imaginary plane and entirely forwardly of the second imaginary plane.

A vehicle includes a differential, a lock and a differential lock controller. The lock is associated with the differential and is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The differential lock controller is configured to selectively facilitate movement of the lock between the locked and unlocked positions.

A vehicle includes wheels, an engine, a start switch, a differential, and a differential lock controller. Each wheel is rotatable at a respective wheel speed. The start switch is configured to selectively initiate of operation of the engine. The differential is associated with the wheels and includes a differential lock. The differential lock is selectively movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The wheels are rotatable together when the differential lock is in the locked position. The differential lock controller is configured to facilitate restriction of the wheel speed of at least one of the wheels when the differential lock is in the locked position. The differential lock controller is further configured to facilitate selective disablement of the wheel speed restriction when the start switch is actuated with the engine operating. Methods are also provided.

A vehicle, such as a motorcycle or ATV, includes a frame, an internal combustion engine, a radiator, a control module and a heat guard. The radiator is configured for receiving fresh air and for expelling heated air. The control module includes an engine control unit for the internal combustion engine. At least a portion of the heat guard is positioned adjacent to and between the radiator and the control module. The heat guard is configured to deflect at least a portion of the heated air expelled by the radiator from contacting the control module. The heat guard is also configured for receiving fresh air for cooling the heat guard to reduce radiation of heat from the heat guard to the control module.
