The invention is a ceramic membrane reactor for syngas production having a reaction chamber, an inlet in the reactor for natural gas intake, a plurality of oxygen permeating ceramic slabs inside the reaction chamber with each slab having a plurality of passages paralleling the gas flow for transporting air through the reaction chamber, a manifold affixed to one end of the reaction chamber for intake of air connected to the slabs, a second manifold affixed to the reactor for removing the oxygen depleted air, and an outlet in the reaction chamber for removing syngas.

Monolithic carbonaceous article

An exhaust gas emissions control system lowers cold-start hydrocarbon emissions by using heat exchange structure to lower the temperature of exhaust gas prior to the exhaust gas passing through a hydrocarbon adsorbent and using the extracted heat to heat a catalytic converter to its light-off temperature. In some embodiments, multi-component hydrocarbon adsorbers effective under different operating conditions further reduce cold-start hydrocarbon emissions.

Emissions control system and method

A membrane of an oxidative conversion contact material of a mixed oxide of aluminum and at least one multivalent activator metal with the membrane permitting selective conveyance of a form of oxygen therethrough, as well as methods for the oxidative conversion of a gaseous hydrocarbon reactant using such membranes are provided.

Membrane and use thereof in oxidative conversion

There is disclosed a catalyst for the reforming of hydrocarbon streams. This catalyst comprises iridium as a hydrogenation component on a support of zirconia and alumina. The support comprises zirconia in an amount of about 3 wt.% to about 15 wt.% zirconia or at least 60 wt.% zirconia. The iridium is present in an amount of about 0.05 wt.% to about 1.5 wt.%, calculated as the metal and based upon the total weight of the catalyst. Also disclosed is a reforming process, which process comprises contacting a hydrocarbon stream in a reaction zone under reforming conditions and in the presence of hydrogen with the above-described catalyst.

Reforming with a catalyst comprising iridium, zirconia, and alumina

There is disclosed a catalyst for the reforming of hydrocarbon streams. This catalyst comprises iridium as a hydrogenation component on a support of zirconia and alumina. The support comprises zirconia in an amount of about 3 wt. % to about 15 wt. % zirconia or at least 60 wt. % zirconia. The iridium is present in an amount of about 0.05 wt. % to about 1.5 wt. %, calculated as the metal and based upon the total weight of the catalyst. Also disclosed is a reforming process, which process comprises contacting a hydrocarbon stream in a reaction zone under reforming conditions and in the presence of hydrogen with the above-described catalyst.

Catalyst composition comprising highly purified alumina containing essentially no silica with a surface area of at least 100 m.sup.2 /g and up to 5% rhodium and up to 10% zinc.

Catalyst for selective hydrocracking of alkylbenzenes

There are disclosed a method for sulfiding a multi-metallic catalyst or a bi-metallic catalyst and a method for initiating the reforming of a petroleum hydrocarbon feedstock in a reforming reaction zone containing a multi-metallic catalyst or a bi-metallic catalyst. The method for sulfiding is employed when a hydrogen-rich gas containing light hydrocarbons is used in the sulfiding of the catalyst. The method comprises passing a stream of said gas over said catalyst at a temperature of about 350.degree. F. to about 470.degree. F., injecting a sulfur-containing compound into the stream of gas up-stream from said catalyst in order to provide a sulfur-carrying gas, and contacting said catalyst with said sulfur-carrying gas at said temperature for a time that is sufficient to provide a sulfur concentration on said catalyst of about 0.1 to about 2.5 moles of sulfur per mole of total active metal. A typical sulfur-containing compound is dimethyl sulfide.
