Systems () and methods for co-channel separation of communication signals. The methods involve: simultaneously receiving a plurality of communication signals transmitted at disparate relative Doppler frequencies from different locations within a multi-access system; performing matched filtering operations to pre-process each of the plurality of communication signals so as to generate pre-processed digitized samples using a priori information contained in pre-ambles () of messages present within the plurality of communication signals; using estimated signal parameters to detect the plurality of communication signals from the pre-processed digitized samples; and demodulating the plurality of communication signals without using a Viterbi decoder.

Co-channel spatial separation using matched doppler filtering

A wireless communications device may include a path searcher for detecting signal peak locations in a received spread-spectrum signal, and a RAKE finger stage. The RAKE finger stage may include a plurality of RAKE fingers for determining symbol values from the received spread-spectrum signal based upon the detected peak locations. Each RAKE finger may include at least one de-spreader for de-spreading time-staggered versions of the received spread-spectrum signal and operating at a signal rate of the received spread-spectrum signal, and a frequency corrector downstream from the at least one de-spreader comprising a phase lock loop (PLL) operating at a rate that is less than the signal rate.

Wireless communications device including rake finger stage providing frequency correction and related methods

A location determining system for a wireless transmitter is carried by a platform movable relative to the wireless transmitter. The location determining system may include an antenna, and a receiver coupled to the antenna. The location determining system may also include a location determining processor coupled to the receiver to collect, during movement relative to the wireless transmitter, a series of range measurements and a corresponding series of received signal measurements, and to estimate a location of the wireless transmitter based upon the range measurements weighted using the received signal measurements.
