A module solenoid valve () includes a valve body () defining an inlet opening () and an outlet opening (). The valve body includes a valve seat () at a distal end thereof. A valve member () controls flow of fuel through the outlet opening. A movable armature () is coupled with the valve member such that movement of the armature moves the valve member between a closed position and an open position. A stator () is associated with the armature. An electromagnetic coil () is associated with the stator and armature for causing movement of the armature towards the stator. A spring () biases the armature and thus the valve member to the closed position. The spring provides a spring force that is greater than a first, normal hydrostatic force applied to the valve seat, but less than a second, overpressure hydrostatic force applied to the valve seat.

A fuel pressure damper (') includes a housing () defining an inlet () constructed and arranged to receive fuel. An orifice disc () is provided at the inlet and includes at least one orifice (). A cover () is coupled to the housing. A flexible diaphragm () has a periphery fixedly secured to at least the housing or the cover and has a freely movable central portion (). A compression spring () biases the diaphragm to a normal position. In an operating position, the central portion of the diaphragm alone, or in combination with the spring, is constructed and arranged to dampen fuel pressure pulsations at the inlet. The orifice is constructed and arranged to ensure that pressure pulsations of a certain magnitude are prevented from entering the damper and damaging the diaphragm.

A fuel injector including a body having an inlet, an outlet, and a fuel passageway extending from the inlet to the outlet along a longitudinal axis. An armature is proximate the inlet of the body. A needle is operatively connected to the armature. A seat is proximate the outlet of the body. A guide member is disposed within the body, the guide member including an aperture that guides the needle. A flat metering disk is disposed between the seat and the guide member, the flat metering disk including a central aperture, a perimeter, and a plurality of slots. Each of the plurality of slots is disposed about the central aperture and extends from the central aperture toward the perimeter to define a volume. The plurality of slots are configured so that the volumes of two of the plurality of slots are non-uniform, and/or the plurality of slots are non-uniformly disposed about the central aperture.
