A high-speed data bus utilizes non-contact coupler technology which allows point to multi-point broadcasting of a data signal to multiple sinks at very high (Gb/s) speeds. These point-to-multi-point data bus transmission lines can then be used to construct a higher order multi-point to multi-point data bus, without contention at the bus level, since data can be made to flow continuously along each transmission line. The non-contact technology is implemented as a series of taps on a transmission line; the taps operate by way of capacitive or inductive or directional coupling, which helps to isolate the transmission line from the loading effects of circuitry connected to the taps and permits low distortion and high speed operation. The transmission line may also be terminated in the same slot where it originates, and its outbound section may be etched on a single conductive layer in the backplane or midplane.

High speed databus utilizing point to multi-point interconnect

A data pulse receiver for detecting and amplifying serial data pulses received at gigabit-per-second rates over a transmission medium through which the signal levels have been substantially attenuated. The receiver, in a preferred embodiment, has grounded base differential amplifiers to give impedance matching, signal amplification and wide frequency bandwidth. A regenerative flip-flop with programmable tail current provides hysteresis in order to suppress unwanted noise signals. The flip-flop also returns the data pulses to NRZ format. The receiver may also include means for automatic adjustment of the hysteresis level.

Serial multi-GB/s data receiver

An outdoor wireless base station having a housing and a circuit pack extending upwards in the housing with electronic components extending into a forward air flow passage. The forward air flow passage is interconnected for air circulation with a rearward air flow passage and a heat conductive rear wall of the housing partly defines the rearward flow passage. Air in the forward air flow passage flows upwards and into the rearward air flow passage for heat removal through the rear wall. The cooling air flows downwards in the rearward air flow passage to return to the bottom of the forward air flow passage.
