A chatter resistant shuttle valve is provided to direct fluid flow from at least two sources of pressurized fluid to a downstream apparatus. The shuttle valve includes a valve body with a shuttle valve member movably mounted inside. A dampening chamber is provided which dampen opening movement of the shuttle as it moved from a closed position on one side of the shuttle toward a closed position on the other end of the shuttle. One or more dampening chambers may be provided.

Chatter resistant shuttle valve

A fluid flow control valve that may be used as both a check valve and a relief valve. The valve includes a moveable valve member having a surface capable of forming two or more valve seal areas with two or more valve seat surfaces on a valve seat member. The valve seat surfaces may be formed by coining a portion of valve seat surfaces on fingers of the valve seat member. One of the valve seat fingers in inclined from the outlet toward the inlet. The valve seat member is metal, forming a metal to metal valve seat arrangement with the valve seat member.

The regulator connects to a high pressure fluid supply and regulates the pressure to a downstream apparatus. If an over-pressure occurs, it is vented to atmosphere. An elongate control stem engages a supply seal assembly and a vent seal assembly and moves axially with respect to these seal assemblies to achieve regulation and venting. During high fluid flow, the supply seal assembly and the vent seal assembly are not in the fluid flow path of the regulator which makes the seal assemblies more resistant to erosion from fluid flow. The fluid flow path through the regulator is partially in hollow passageways in the elongate control stem.

The regulator connects to a high pressure fluid supply and regulates the pressure to a downstream apparatus. If an over-pressure occurs, it is vented to atmosphere. A segmented body reduces production cost. An elongate control stem engages a supply seal assembly and a vent seal assembly and moves axially with respect to these seal assemblies to achieve regulation and venting. Both the supply seal assembly and the vent seal assembly are bi-directional and operate when forces are applied from opposing directions.

A relief valve with two outlet ports increases the flow capacity of the valve when open. In an alternative embodiment, a relief valve with two outlet ports also has at least two springs stacked vertically. Alternative seal assemblies can be used with the aforementioned dual outlet port valves.

A dirty fluid valve having a mechanical latching or detent system to secure the valve in an open or closed position is disclosed. The preferred detent assembly includes a c-ring that is engaged and urged outwardly by radially extending pins. The pins are urged outwardly by a ball bearing that is continuously biased by a spring carrier in combination with at least one belleville spring. The spring is captured between the spring carrier and an adjusting nut that can be rotated to vary the load on the spring. The detent assembly releasingly engages a first detent groove in the valve body when the valve piston is in the valve closed position and releasingly engages a second detent groove in the valve body when the piston is in the valve open position.

The normally closed, two-position, three-way latching hydroseal valve can be used in subsea applications in connection with the production of oil and natural gas. The latching hydroseal valve can be operated by remote pilot valves to open and close the latching hydroseal valve or in an alternative embodiment attached solenoid pilot valves can be used. The seal carrier has pistons of different diameters to latch the valve open after the pilot fluid is vented to atmosphere. The main seal assembly includes a bi-directional seal.

Low interflow hydraulic shuttle valve

The pressure biased shuttle valve assembly in the pressure biased shuttle valve operates in conjunction with a remote operated vehicle (ROV) to actuate blow-out preventers and thus shut in the well during emergency situations. The pressure biased shuttle valve assembly opens in response to fluid pressure from the ROV. It requires little or no flow to open. These pressure biased shuttle valves are typically located subsea on a lower marine riser platform (LMRP). These platforms are sometimes brought to the surface for a periodic testing and maintenance. The pressure biased shuttle valve assembly is also used as a repair kit which facilitates easy maintenance and repair when the LMRP is brought to the surface. In one embodiment, the shuttle is rigidly connected to a piston rod. In another embodiment, there is a flexible connection between the piston rod and shuttle. The purpose of the flexible connection is to encourage a better seal in smaller size valves.
