A physiological data acquisition system includes at least one interface module and a base unit configured to communicatively connect to the at least one interface module to receive the physiological signals recorded by a catheter. Each interface module is formed by mating at least a first one of the two or more different personality modules to a dock. The dock has a multi-modal connection port configured to directly connect to a dock connector of any one of the two or more different personality modules so as to receive physiological signals therefrom. The first personality module includes a first catheter connector configured to receive a connection end of the catheter so as to receive physiological signals therefrom, and a first dock connector configured to connect to the multi-modal connection port of the dock so as to provide the physiological signals thereto.

Customizable interface system for invasive cardiology and electrophysiology

In the present invention, a right leg drive RLD monitoring system is employed on a medical computing system/computer, such as an ECG, HEMO and/or EP monitoring, mapping and/or recording system, that includes a number of RLD circuits to be utilized for different procedures or monitoring states to be performed using the system. The RLD monitoring system operates to actively monitor and/or record the feedback voltage to the RLD isolated from the patient. Using the measured feedback voltage data, the RLD monitoring system can identify and determine if the RLD circuit in use is approaching saturation, has reached saturation and the duration the RLD circuit was in saturation. The RLD monitoring system can concurrently and/or subsequently select and/or provide selection information regarding an optimal RLD circuit to be utilized to most effectively perform the desired function of the RLD in the procedure being performed using the monitoring, mapping and/or recording system.

In the present invention, an interface control module for controlling a mapping/imaging/recording system is provided for placement on a catheter control handle. The interface control module includes control elements that are operably connected to the mapping/imaging/recording system in order to control various functions of the imaging/recording system relating to images represented on a display forming a part of the mapping/imaging/recording system. The interface control module can be integrated with the catheter control handle or can be formed as a separate component that is releasably attachable to the catheter control handle to enable a use to operate the mapping/imaging/recording system from the catheter control handle being utilized in an interventional medical procedure.

Catheter-based user interface device for remote control of display images

In the present invention, a medical device authorization system is employed to associate software contained on a medical computing system/computer, such as an EP mapping and recording system, that pertains to a specific medical device, e.g., a transducer, connected to the computer such that the software is only utilized by the computer in conjunction with a catheter that is authorized for use with the computer. The authorization system utilizes an analog authorization waveform/signal that is mixed with the analog device/catheter measured signals transmitted to the computer. The authorization waveform distorts the measured signals in a manner that renders the signals able to be displayed by the system but unusable, unless the computer includes a signal filter operably connected to the device/transducer interface that is configured to remove the interfering authorization waveform from the measured signal.

In the present invention, a catheter identification system for providing information about one or more attributes of a catheter connectable to an electrophysiology (EP) recording or mapping system includes a catheter, a resistor network operably connected to the catheter, the resistor network including at least one identification resistor and an identification resistor measurement circuit operably connected to the catheter and configured to send an identification signal through the at least one resistor in the resistor network to retrieve an altered identification signal from the identification resistor, where the altered identification signal provides information on an attribute of the catheter.

In the present invention, a system that has a navigation signal delivered by one of a signal or navigation catheter or treatment catheter as directed by a controller for detection by the other of the navigation catheter or the a treatment catheter to navigate the treatment catheter to a specific point or area of interest using the detected navigation signal is provided. The system is operable in a method to perform the above utilizing the mapping function of the electrophysiology mapping and/or recorder system to energize electrodes on either the navigation catheter or treatment catheter to direct the treatment catheter to the area, region or point of interest.

An electrophysiology data acquisition system that receives physiological signals from at least one catheter includes an amplifier and at least one noise reduction circuit operatively connected to the amplifier and configured to cancel interference in the physiological signals from the catheter. A drive selection circuit is controllable to connect any one of two or more available electrodes to the noise reduction circuit such that the connected electrode becomes an equalization drive electrode for the catheter. In the present invention, a haptic feedback module for use with a medical computer system employed in non-robotic interventional medical procedure is provided for placement on a catheter control handle. The haptic feedback module includes transducers that are operably connected to the computer system in order to enable the feedback module to provide haptic feedback to a user in response to sensor data and other information supplied to the computer system. The haptic feedback module is formed as a separate component that is releasably attachable to the catheter control handle to enable a user to receive the haptic feedback while retaining control of the catheter control handle being utilized in the interventional medical procedure.

In the present invention, a medical device authorization system is employed to associate software contained on a medical computing system/computer, such as an EP mapping and recording system, that pertains to a specific medical device, e.g., a catheter, connected to the computer such that the software is only utilized by the computer in conjunction with a catheter that is authorized for use with the computer. In the present invention, a system and method for determining the orthogonality and applied force vector of an ablation catheter includes the steps of providing an electrophysiology system including an RF generator, a processor operably connected to the RF generator, a display operably connected to the processor and an ablation catheter operably connected to the RF generator and the processor, the catheter including an ablation electrode disposed opposite the RF generator and a number of microelectrodes disposed on and electrically isolated from the ablation electrode, the processor configured to compare data signals obtained from the microelectrodes with one another to derive a difference value for each pair of data signals, obtaining data signals from the microelectrodes, comparing the data signals from microelectrode pairs to determine difference values and generating a visual representation on the display of the orthogonality and applied force vector of the ablation electrode using the difference values.

In the present invention, an electrophysiology (EP) mapping or recording device for obtaining and recording information on a patient connected to the EP system includes a central processing unit (CPU), a display connected to the CPU, a cable lead connected to the CPU and configured to supply a physiological signal to the CPU from an electrode disposed on a patient, such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) surface electrode. A signal quality indication system includes a CPU capable of determining the EC signal quality and a light source disposed on the cable lead in close proximity to the patient. The light source is operated by the CPU to emit light in varying colors and/or in varying intensities or configuration corresponding to the quality of the physiological signal to visually represent the presence and quality of the physiological signal on the cable lead.
