A sensing and communication system for a gas lift well is provided. The gas lift well includes a casing, production tubing positioned within the casing, and a gas lift valve coupled to the production tubing. The sensing and communication system includes a turbine configured to rotate in response to an injected gas stream flowing through the turbine, wherein the turbine is positioned one of i) within an annulus defined between the production tubing and the casing and ii) within the gas lift valve, an alternator coupled to the turbine and configured to generate electrical power from rotation of the turbine, and at least one sensor coupled to the alternator and configured to operate using the generated electrical power.

Methods and systems for downhole sensing and communications in gas lift wells

A gas lift valve assembly includes a housing and a check valve. The housing defines an inlet port and an outlet port, and includes an inner casing having a radial outer surface and a radial inner surface at least partially defining a main flow passage. The check valve includes a sealing mechanism disposed around the radial outer surface of the inner casing, and a valve member including an outwardly extending sealing segment. The valve member is moveable between an open position and a closed position in which the sealing segment sealingly engages the sealing mechanism.

Gas lift valve assemblies and methods of assembling same

A gas lift valve assembly includes a housing, a check valve, and a fluid flow barrier. The housing defines an inlet port, an outlet port, and a main flow passage providing fluid communication between the inlet port and the outlet port. The main flow passage has an upstream end and a downstream end. The check valve includes a sealing element disposed at the downstream end of the main flow passage, and a valve member configured to sealingly engage the sealing element. The valve member is movable between an open position in which fluid flow is permitted in a downstream direction, and a closed position in which the valve member inhibits fluid flow in an upstream direction. The fluid flow barrier is disposed within the main flow passage, and is configured to direct fluid flow away from the sealing element when the valve member is in the open position.

The electrostatic coalescer includes at least one inlet for receiving the emulsion; at least one outlet for discharging the emulsion after coalescing the dispersed phase; and at least one electrode disposed between the inlet and the outlet, wherein the electrode is configured to receive an AC voltage/current from a power source. The electrostatic coalescer further includes at least one article disposed between the inlet and the outlet, the article includes a plurality of regions disposed on a surface in a predefined pattern, wherein a portion of the plurality of regions is substantially wetting with respect to the dispersed phase, and a portion of the plurality of regions is substantially non-wetting with respect to the dispersed phase.

A sealing system for a centrifugal compressor includes a stator having a seal, a seal disposed in the seal housing and having an abradable portion along an inner circumference, a rotor having a plurality of rotor teeth configured to rotate within the inner circumference of the seal and configured to create rub grooves within the abradable portion, and a first spring disposed between the stator and the seal and configured to facilitate axial movement of the seal relative to the seal housing.

A hydrodynamic face seal ring for use in a rotary machine includes a support ring having at least two support ring segments and a radially-extending, first face. The support ring is configured to releasably couple to an inner surface of an outer casing of the rotary machine. The face seal ring also includes a sealing ring substantially concentric with the support ring. The sealing ring includes at least two sealing ring segments and a radially-extending, second face. The sealing ring is releasably coupled to the support ring such that the first face is mated against the second face.

In one embodiment, an article is provided which comprises (a) a gas conduit defining a gas flow channel; (b) an interior surface of the gas conduit; (c) a hydrate inhibiting coating on the interior surface, wherein the coating comprises: (i) component A, a one- or two-part room temperature vulcanizable polyorganosiloxane composition comprising a surface-treated filler, a condensation catalyst, and a crosslinking agent; and any reaction products thereof; and optionally (ii) component B, a hydrate release-enhancing proportion of at least one polyorganosiloxane comprising one or more silanol or alkoxy-silyl groups and comprising from about 10 weight percent to about 85 weight percent of at least one hydroxy-terminated or alkoxy-terminated polyoxyalkylenealkyl radical; and optionally (iii) any reaction products thereof.

The IV may be used with a machine that includes a work-piece and an interference body positioned proximate a surface of the work-piece such that a relatively small gap extends between the work-piece and the interference body. The method includes transporting the IV from external to the machine into the gap, positioning the IV in the gap such that at least a portion of the IV circumscribes a work area of the work-piece, locking the IV between the work-piece and the interference body, and manipulating a tool coupled to the IV from external to the machine, the tool configured to transfer a component between the work-piece and a storage cassette on the IV.

Embodiments of the invention can provide systems, methods, and apparatus for providing a capacitance paddle for measuring capacitance in a stator component such as a stator bar. In one embodiment, a system for measuring capacitance can include an output device operable to measure capacitance in an object. Furthermore, the system can include at least three contacts operable to mount to the object to be sensed. In addition, the system can include at least one conductive material operable to mount to the object to be sensed. Moreover, the system can include a compressible material adjacent to at least some of the at least three contacts and the at least one conductive material, wherein the compressible material can be compressed to permit the contacts to simultaneously contact the object to be sensed, and wherein the output device can output a measure of capacitance associated with the object.

An Advanced Data Logging kit for testing a generator's liquid cooled stator bar system for leaks is disclosed. The kit is installed in between the generator's header and the HIT Skid and in the generator's cooling system. The kit includes pressure and vacuum transducers, sensor arrays with thermocouples, and data acquisition circuits. The sensor arrays are used to plumb the thermocouples into the generator's header and cooling pipes. The pressure and vacuum transducers and the thermocouples are used to collect pressure, vacuum and temperature data that is used to conduct a Pressure Decay Test and a Vacuum Decay Test to determine whether or not a leak in the liquid cooled stator bar system exists. A computer included in the kit has the ability to analyze the data readings, perform calculations, and predict leak rates in the stator bar system.

Advanced HIT skid data collection

An automatic data logging kit is used with a hydraulic integrity test kit for testing a liquid cooled stator bar system. The automatic data logging kit includes a spool piece having end connectors attachable between the liquid cooled stator bar system and the hydraulic integrity test kit as well as a plurality of sensor receptacles. At least one temperature sensor insertable within an interior of the liquid cooled stator bar system is coupled with an output connector operatively securable in the first of the sensor receptacles in the spool piece. At least one pressure sensor is also operatively securable in one of the spool piece sensor receptacles. A control unit receives output from the sensors and calculates a leak rate based on the received sensor output. The automatic data logging kit provides automatic data logging capabilities for pressure-decay and vacuum-decay cycle tests, increased accuracy of the pressure-decay and vacuum-decay data and reduced cycle time in determining the leak rates.
