A power cable has a cable core with at least one conductor with an insulating system and a water barrier surrounding the cable core. The water barrier has a helically wound strength bearing layer interconnected by a low melting point material.

Method for creating a transition joint between two cables using canted coil springs and a cable assembly having such a transition joint

A conductor joint () is provided for connecting two conductors along a longitudinal direction. The conductor joint comprises a first segment having a first segment end () adapted connecting to an end portion of a first conductor and a second segment () comprising a second segment end () relative to the longitudinal direction adapted for receiving a second conductor end of a second conductor. The second segment further has an opposite second segment end () fixed, or forming an integral part with, an opposite first segment end () of the first segment (), a tubular sleeve () and a core rod () wherein ends () of the tubular sleeve () and the core rod () are arranged with a radial offset forming a sleeve opening for receiving at the end portion of the second conductor end of the second conductor.

Conductor joint

The invention concerns a power cable suitable for providing power to and from a downhole tool situated within a borehole. The cable comprises at least one inner conductor comprising at least one first electrically conductive material, at least one inner insulating layer surrounding the inner conductor(s), comprising at least one electrically insulating material, an armour sheath surrounding the inner insulating layer(s) comprising at least one second electrically conductive material and at least one outer conducting layer surrounding, and electrically contacting, the armour sheath, comprising at least one third electrically conductive material. The armour sheath further comprises at least one inner radial layer comprising a plurality of armouring wires with a diameter D and at least one outer radial layer electrically contacting the inner radial layer(s), the outer radial layer(s) comprising a plurality of armouring wires () with a diameter d the diameter d being dissimilar to the diameter D, and wherein said armouring wires are radially arranged, in a closed packed structure in order to maximize the armour sheath density.

Cable for downhole tractor deployment

A non-corrugated cablewith a hollow core, suited for subsea operations at big sea depths and corrosive environments has a corewith a tube shaped non-metallic material for withstanding corrosion. A first inner armoring layeris wounded onto the core, and at least a second armoring layeris wounded onto the first inner armoring layer. Each armoring layer is laid counter-helically on each other for providing radial reinforcement of the core. The first inner armoring layerhas a smaller diameter of its wires than the second armoring layer. An outer protective non-corrosive sheathis covering said armoring layers.

Downhole cable with integrated non-metallic tube

A cable is provided for suspending a down hole pump that has a core with at least one tube for the transport of fluid and at least one conductor covered with an insulation layer made of a high temperature resistant insulating material. The core is covered by a steel tape and a first layer of steel wires are positioned radially outside the steel tape in contact with the steel tape. The wires of the first layer of steel wires are positioned side by side around the core with no filler in between the steel wires and an outer layer made of heat resistant polymer covers the steel wires.
