Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for ultra-wideband measurements for radio access technology-independent positioning. One apparatus includes a transceiver that transmits a set of capabilities related to ultra-wideband positioning, receives UWB assistance data to perform UWB positioning, and transmits a UWB measurement and location information report for the UE device using the at least one UWB positioning method associated with at least one of a set of timing-based and a set of angular-based UWB measurements. The apparatus includes a processor that determines information for potential causes of error for one or more of a UWB configuration and a position estimate for the UE device. The transceiver transmits the determined information for the potential causes of error and receives UWB-specific error information associated with one or more of the UWB configuration and the position estimate information for correcting the determined potential causes of error.

Ultra-wideband measurements for radio access technology-independent positioning

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for configuring positioning measurements and reports. One apparatus in a mobile communication network includes a transceiver that receives, from a mobile wireless communication network, a positioning configuration defining a positioning configuration timeline and a measurement and processing time window for the UE The apparatus includes a processor that performs at least one positioning measurement for the UE according to the positioning processing timeline in response to receiving the positioning configuration. The transceiver sends a positioning measurement report comprising the at least one positioning measurement and measurement timeline performed of the at least one positioning measurement within the configured time window from the UE to the mobile wireless communication network.

Configuring positioning measurements and reports

In the field of wireless communication systems or networks, the design of resource pools as they may be used in sidelink communications among users of the wireless communication system, for example in V2X applications, is described. In particular, an improved resource pool design, for example for resource pools to be used in sidelink communications in V2X services in view of the advantages defined by the NR 5G standard, is presented.

NR V2X resource pool design

A user device, UE, for a wireless communication system is described. The wireless communication system includes a plurality of user devices, UEs. The UE communicates with one or more transmitting UEs using a sidelink, supports a certain number of HARQ processes, and buffers one or more transmissions for each HARQ process. During a unicast communication with a transmitting UE using the sidelink, the UE receives from the transmitting UE a transmission during a transmission time interval, the transmission associated to control data, e.g. SCI, including a HARQ process ID, buffers the received transmission for the HARQ process, and combines the buffered transmissions prior to decoding. In case a successfully identified transmission is not buffered, the UE indicates to the transmitting UE that the transmission is not buffered at the UE.

V2X HARQ process management

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for location-based beam failure detection (BFD) and recovery. One apparatus includes a transceiver that receives a configuration from a RAN for multiple sets of BFD reference signal (RS), multiple beam failure instance (BFI) counters, and an association of at least one BFD RS set and a corresponding BFI counter to one of a plurality of groups. The processor measures a signal strength on the BFD RS for each group and compares the measured signal strength with a BFD RS threshold value. The processor increments a BFI counter associated with a particular group if the measured signal strength is below a BFD RS threshold value and initiates random-access procedure if the BFI counter reaches a maximum value of beam failure for each group.

Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to a user equipment (UE) that receives first control signaling indicating position information associated with a non-terrestrial station (NTS), the position information including an altitude of the NTS, a distance between the NTS and the apparatus, and/or an indication of a timing delay between the NTS and the apparatus. The UE also receives second control signaling indicating a first configuration identifying a first reference signal occasion. The UE determines a temporal range of an expected reference signal time difference duration based in part on the position information and the first configuration, and receives a reference signal during the temporal range of the expected reference signal time difference duration.

Positioning in a non-terrestrial network

The present invention concerns a novel form of communication within a cellular wireless communication network. One aspect of the invention concerns a User Equipment for a cellular network, wherein the UE inter alia includes a first interface for UE-to-Basestation communication configured to communicate with a base station of the cellular network and a second interface for UE-to-UE communication configured to communicate with one or more other UEs of a UE-Group to which the UE belongs. According to the invention the UE is configured to receive via its first interface configuration data for configuring its second interface, and to coordinate, via the second interface, a communication within the UE Group.

A wireless communication system includes one or more base stations, and a plurality of UEs for a sidelink communication using sidelink resources. The UEs includes a transmitting UE and a receiving UE using a subset of the sidelink resources of the wireless communication system. The receiving UE sends over the sidelink a sidelink feedback to the transmitting UE. The sidelink feedback indicates for a data transmission a successful or non-successful reception at the receiving UE. The transmitting UE reports the sidelink feedback to a base station. The base station provides to the transmitting UE, responsive to the sidelink feedback, sidelink resources for a possible retransmission of a data packet over the sidelink to the receiving UE. The reporting of the sidelink feedback to the base station by the transmitting UE is activated or deactivated responsive to one or more conditions.

Groupcast procedures for V2X

An apparatus for a wireless communication system is describes. The wireless communication system includes one or more base stations and a plurality of user devices, UEs. The apparatus is configured to be connected to one or more UEs via a sidelink for a sidelink communication with the one or more UEs, the apparatus and the one or more UEs forming a group of UEs and using a set of group resources to be used for the sidelink communication within the group of UEs. In case a base station does not provide resource allocation configuration or assistance, the apparatus is configured to select resources from a set of resources provided by the wireless communication system so as to alter or completely change the set of group resources to be used for the sidelink communication within the group of UEs.

V2X dynamic groupcast resource allocation

An apparatus for a wireless communication system includes a plurality of base stations and a plurality of UEs. The apparatus is to be connected to a base station for a communication with the base station, and one or more UEs via a sidelink for a sidelink communication. The apparatus and the one or more UEs form a group of user devices. The apparatus is to request from a base station, directly or indirectly, resources for a sidelink communication with the one or more UEs of the group, and is to obtain from the base station, directly or indirectly, information about at least one set of resources to be used for the sidelink communication within the group. Each of the sets of resources is only or exclusively used within the group, and the group members include the apparatus and the one or more UEs of the group.

Resource pool design for group communications

An apparatus for a wireless communication system is connected to at least one user device (UE) via a sidelink for a sidelink communication. For a unicast transmission, the apparatus transmits a sidelink frame having a certain frame duration. A first part of the sidelink frame includes a control signaling. The control signaling indicates to the UE whether a feedback is to be returned to the apparatus. The feedback indicates a successful reception of data at the UE or a sidelink channel condition. If a feedback is desired, the apparatus transmits in the first part of the frame, using the control signaling, an indication that the feedback is to be provided by the UE such that a duration of the control signaling is shorter, by a remaining duration, than the frame duration, and receives from the UE, during the remaining duration, the feedback.
