A gateway device includes a first communication system, a second communication system and a network processor. The first communication system and the network processor communicate first network signals therebetween. The first network signals comprising first higher priority network signals and first lower priority network signals. The second communicate system and the network processor communicating second network signals therebetween. The second network signals comprising second higher priority network signals and second lower priority network signals. The network processor communicates a first congestion notification request signal to the first communication system. The first communication system modifies the first lower priority network signals at the first communication system in response to the first congestion notification signal to form first modified network signals and communicates the first modified network signals from the gateway device.

Method and system for performing diagnostics in a gateway device based on monitoring parameters

A system includes a monitoring module comprising a real time monitor, a database and an analytical engine. A gateway device is in communication with the monitoring module. The gateway device includes a processor communicating current data to the monitoring module through a connection. The real time monitor stores current data in a database. The database also comprises past data and the current data. The real time monitor notifies the analytical engine when storing the current data. The analytical engine generates a screen display comprising past data and current data.

Method and system for analyzing performance of a gateway device

A gateway device includes a media processor module comprising a gateway application module. The gateway device also includes a router module comprising a gateway abstraction module and an interface handler module. The gateway device also includes a shared interface module in communication with the router module and the media processor module. The shared interface module receives a service request signal from the gateway application module. The gateway abstraction module obtains the service request signal from the shared interface module through an interface handler module. The gateway abstraction module communicates a response signal to the media processor module through the shared interface module. The media processor module performs a function in response to the response signal.

Method and system for communicating between a media processor and network processor in a gateway device

A system includes a gateway device receiving satellite or cable content, storing the satellite or cable content in a memory, receiving broadband content from a broadband source, and storing the broadband content in the memory. The user device communicates a listing request to the gateway device. The gateway device forms a list comprising broadband content stored in the memory and satellite or cable content stored in the memory in response to the listing request and communicates the list to the user device through a network including the gateway device and the user device. The user device generates a selection signal corresponding to a first content from the list and communicating the selection signal to the gateway device through the network. The gateway device determines a network condition, allocates gateway resources in response to the network condition and communicates the first content therethrough after allocating.

Method and system for allocating resources in a gateway device

A system includes a first processor and a second processor coupled to the first processor through a high speed connection and a low speed connection. The first processor and the second processor are disposed within a first device. The first processor and the second processor exchange heartbeat signals therebetween through the low speed connection. The first processor communicates a first reset signal through a reset line to the second processor when the first processor does not receive a first heartbeat signal of the heartbeat signals from the second processor. The second processor resets in response to the first reset signal.

A system includes an analysis module monitoring parameters of a gateway device. The analysis module stores trends of parameters. The analysis module determines a diagnostic time slot when a diagnostic or self-healing method is not performed in response to trends of parameters. The analysis module performs the diagnostic or self-healing during the diagnostic time slot.

A system includes a first communication system, a second communication system and a network processor in communication with the first communication system and the second communication system. The first communication system and the network processor communicate first network signals therebetween. The first network signals include first higher priority network signals and first lower priority network signals. Method and system for preventing congestion of communication signals in a gateway device

A system includes a first device that communicates a first configuration signal, an IP address and port identifier to a second device. The second device includes a router having a quality of service module therein. The second device deep packet inspects communication signals destined for the first device based on the IP address and port identifier. The quality of service module applies a quality of service policy to the communication signals based on deep packet inspecting to form modified communication signals. The first device performs a function in response to the modified communication signals.

Method and system for applying quality of service policies to communication signals communicated to non-deep packet inspection devices

A network device includes an electronic program guide (EPG) component configured to receive EPG data associated with an EPG from an external EPG server. The network device further includes a manager component comprising a pre-loader configured to pre-render and send first EPG images, associated with the EPG, that are frequently re-used to multiple client devices; a graphics interceptor configured to generate one or more second EPG images based on a graphics call, wherein the graphics call causes a first one of multiple client devices to display the one or more second EPG images; and a window manager configured to track changes in the one or more second EPG images and send a modified EPG image that includes the changes, or a modified portion of an EPG image that includes the changes, to the first one of the multiple client devices.

A mobile device includes a mobile network module to present media content using a public network and a home network module to present media content from a home network. The mobile device uses the mobile network module to receive a media streaming session via a broadband cellular connection and detects a local wireless connection to a device in a home network. The mobile device uses the home network module to initiate, via the local wireless connection, a home media session with the device in the home network and matches content of the home media session with content of the media streaming session. The mobile device presents, to a user and using the home network module, the matched content of the home media session and disables the media streaming session.

A method including dividing a first image into first sub-images; calculating a first checksum value for each of the first sub-images; dividing a second image into second sub-images; calculating a second checksum value for each of the second sub-images; comparing the first checksum values with the second checksum values; and determining whether one or more differences in checksum values exist between the first checksum values and the second checksum values and correspondingly whether one or more differences exist between the first sub-images and the second sub-images.
