A method of adding a power feed to electrical systems includes coupling a set of input lines to a power source such that the input lines are connected to at least one phase of AC power from the power source, and coupling a set of backfeed lines to an output receptacle in a power distribution unit. The output receptacle may be connected in parallel with at least one other output receptacle that is supplying primary power to systems in the data center. The set of backfeed lines and the set of input lines may be tested to determine a match between a pair of lines in the set of backfeed lines and a pair of lines in the set of input lines. Determining the match may include matching the phase of the pair of backfeed lines with the phase of the pair of input lines.

Method and system for establishing a power feed to systems during operation

A system for cooling a power distribution unit in a room of a data center includes an air handling system that supplies air to the room or removes air from the room through an opening in the room and an air directing device. The first end of the air directing device couples at the opening in the room. The second end of the air directing device couples with the power distribution unit at one or more openings of an enclosure of the power distribution unit. The air directing device directs air between the opening in the room and the one or more openings of the power distribution unit.

System and method for cooling power distribution units

A bypass device is used to bypass one or more automatic transfer switches mounted in an automatic transfer switch cabinet. The bypass device is physically coupled to one or more input power sources and to each respective output connection of a plurality of automatic transfer switches in the automatic transfer switch cabinet. The bypass device selectively feeds electrical power to one or more loads associated with a limited selection of automatic transfer switches to be bypassed. The bypass device comprises a selector device configured to route power from an input power source to respective output connections of the limited selection of automatic transfer switches to be bypassed. A plurality of output breakers are coupled to separate power outlets of each of the plurality of automatic transfer switches to isolate the respective automatic transfer switches.

Techniques are described for managing power in a computing system using power controller(s). Power consumption information may be received from power sensors that measure power consumption of computing devices in a rack computing system, or that measure the power received or distributed by power distribution components such as power distribution units (PDUs) in the racks. A determination may be made whether the amount of power being currently consumed within a computing system exceeds a predetermined threshold. If so, control signal(s) may be sent to instruct the power controller(s) to alter characteristic(s), such as frequency, voltage, current, and so forth, of the power being supplied to one or more computing devices or other component(s). The power alteration may occur at one or more points in the power distribution system of one or more racks, such as at one or more PDUs, distribution circuits, breakers, and so forth.
