This invention relates to a novel architecture of a passive RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) tag which is highly miniature in size, capable of metal mounting and suitable for global operation in the entire UHF band (860 MHz to 960 MHz) without necessity of territory specific optimization of the antenna design layout. This invention envisages a novel antenna design that consists of a circular or rectangular microstrip antenna of ultra-small size (&#x2212;&#x3bb;/50), which is suitably loaded in shunt by lumped components resistor (R), inductor (L) and capacitor (C). The feed point, feed layout and the loading values are so optimized that a single tag will display optimum performance in all the territories. This invention relates to a method of encapsulating the passive tag with radio transparent materials like Radel&#xae; R, as well as a metal backplane so that the encapsulated tag can withstand autoclaving while maintaining the required performance.

Miniaturized UHF RFID tag for implantable medical device

A tag for tracking inventory levels and uses of an implant. The tag has a first component having a proximal portion and a distal portion and a second component having a proximal portion and distal portion. Additionally, the tag has an implant receiving cavity formed by the distal portion of the first component and the distal portion of the second component, in which the implant receiving cavity includes an encapsulating extension to substantially encapsulate an implant. Furthermore, the tag has a planar surface formed by the proximal portion of the first component and the proximal portion of the second component. The planar surface extending from the implant receiving cavity is substantially transverse to a longitudinal axis of the implant received within the implant receiving cavity. In addition, the tag has a tamper evident locking mechanism configured for locking the first component to the second component.

A blister package for a cosmetic article is disclosed which provides a means to include and protect an applicator while permitting the viewing of the cosmetic. The package comprises a support panel on which are mounted first and second blisters adapted to confine a cosmetic applicator and article, respectively. The first blister is mountable on the support panel confining the applicator and providing support for the cosmetic article while protecting the applicator from crushing and contamination. The second blister is mountable over the first blister, and the cosmetic article supported thereon, in a manner which allows the cosmetic article to be opened and the cosmetic therein viewed while preventing access to the cosmetic.
