A bleaching assistant in the form of granulated particles for use in or with a washing and bleaching composition is provided which comprises:

Bleaching assistants

Detergent formulations are granulated commercially by spray drying a slurry of the formulation. There is now proposed a method in which the components in powder form are granulated with a binder in a substantially horizontal annular rotating bed. The binder may be released by the action of the rotating bed.

Method for preparing granulated detergent formulations

Enzyme granules, particularly for detergent compositions, are prepared having a granule core of solid material carrying an enzyme and a solid coating of plasticized resin free of the enzyme. The plasticized resin can be dextrin or sodium lignosulphonate containing a plasticizer such as glucose, sucrose urea, glycerol or ethylene glycol. The granules are made by spraying the enzyme-containing core with a concentrated aqueous solution of the plasticized resin.

The disclosure relates to the protection of solid precursors in powder detergent compositions using a hydrogen peroxide bleach system. The finely divided precursor is formed, with a carrier material, into a composite particle which is then coated. The coated particle gives good dispersion of the precursor in the wash liquor.
