A technique includes determining at least one impulse response of a modeling and migration of at least one point scatterer in a target structure and based at least in part on the impulse response(s) and a reflection amplitude image, determining a model for at least part of the target structure.

Determining an elastic model for a geologic region

A method can include receiving input that specifies a type of partitionable pre-stack seismic data for a geologic environment and corresponding partitions; receiving an elastic model parameterized via elastic properties; generating synthetic seismic data for at least a portion of the geologic environment based at least in part on point spread functions and the elastic model; for the partitions, comparing the pre-stack seismic data and the generated synthetic seismic data; based at least in part on the comparing, updating the elastic model; and outputting values for at least one of the elastic properties.

Amplitude inversion on partitioned depth image gathers using point spread functions

A technique includes determining an image of a subsurface geologic region of interest, where the image represents at least in part ghost energy that is attributable to reflections caused by a reflecting interface. The technique includes deghosting the image, which includes processing data representing the image in a processor-based machine to determine at least one impulse response of a modeling and migration of at least one point scatterer for the region and use the impulse response(s) to attenuate the ghost energy.

Various implementations described herein are directed to methods for processing seismic data including enhancing seismic data generated by a seismic sensor. The methods may include receiving seismic data that had been acquired using the seismic sensor. The seismic data may include one or more first seismic data elements related to a first seismic event. The methods may include generating summands of the seismic data as an inner product of multiple seismic data elements associated with the first seismic data elements and one or more second seismic data elements. The second seismic data elements may be different than the first seismic data elements. The methods may further include enhancing the seismic data by estimating outliers in the summands of the inner product and replacing the outliers with interpolated values.

A technique includes receiving data indicative of a wavefield in a processor-based system and processing the data on the processor-based system to generate a modeled wavefield. The processing includes varying boundary conditions of the modeled wavefield with respect to time to regulate coherent boundary reflections in the modeled wavefield.

Systems and methods for compensating for spatial and slowness or angle blurring of plane-wave reflection coefficients in imaging. A wave field may be determined at a reference depth proximate to a reflector for a shot record. A receiver-side blurring function may be determined at the reference depth. An aggregate blurring function may be constructed based at least partially on the source wave field and the receiver-side blurring function. A plane-wave reflection coefficients may be determined based at least partially on the aggregate blurring function.

Compensating for space and slowness/angle blurring of reflectivity

Computing systems and methods for improving imaging of collected data are disclosed. In one embodiment, a first wavefield is propagated to obtain a first wavefield history; the first wavefield is again propagated to obtain a second wavefield history, wherein the propagation includes integration of one or more Q-effects; a first attenuated traveltime history is estimated based at least in part on the first and second wavefield histories; a first Q-model filter is calculated based at least in part on the first estimated attenuated traveltime; and a first adjusted wavefield is generated based at least in part on application of the first Q-model filter to the first wavefield. In some embodiments, an image is generated based at least on a first adjusted wavefield and a second wavefield.

Methods and devices for transformation of collected data for improved visualization capability

To perform inversion to produce a model of a structure, a filtering operator based at least on an angle between a propagating direction of a source wavefield and a propagating direction of a back-propagated receiver wavefield is computed. The filtering operator is used in performing the inversion to produce the model of the structure.

A technique includes modeling a seismic wavefield in a vertical transversely isotropic media as a second order derivative of a first wavefield function with respect to a vertical direction and not with respect to crossline and inline directions and as second order derivatives of a second wave field function with respect to the inline and crossline directions and not with respect to the vertical direction. The method includes processing seismic measurements of the media in accordance with the modeled seismic wavefield to obtain information about the media. In another technique, a seismic wavefield in a tilted transversely isotropic media are modeled based at least in part on orientation of the symmetry axis and a nonzero shear velocity for the media; and seismic measurements of the media are processed in accordance with the modeled seismic wavefield to obtain information associated with the media.

Using a wave propagator for transversely isotropic media

To generate an absorption parameter model, estimated values of an effective absorption parameter are received, where the estimated effective absorption parameter values represent absorption encountered by a seismic wave in a subterranean structure. Based on the estimated effective absorption parameter values, an absorption parameter model is generated that varies absorption parameter values along at least one dimension of the subterranean structure.
