An adjustable router or shaper cutter assembly that facilitates the formation of an edge contour such as a rounded over contour on work-pieces of differing thicknesses.

A bevel setting tool having a rectangular plate, both sides of which are marked with reference indicia and a moveable fence that slides longitudinally on a stud that passes from the fence through a slot centrally located in the plate and into a locking knob. The fence and knob may be disassembled so that the fence can be positioned on either side of the plate.

Bevel setter

An out-feed roller support stand having a sturdy, stable base that folds for compact storage. A support mast that telescopes into and is adjustable within the base supports a work support head that includes an adjustable cross bar on which a row of pivoting caster wheels are mounted. An alternative embodiment includes a ramp for guiding sagging ends of work-pieces up onto the caster wheels. Both the height and angle between the adjustable cross bar and floor are adjustable after the position of the support mast has been adjusted in order to position the support head in roughly the correct location.

Roller stand

A plane such as a low angle jack plane having an adjustable toe that cannot inadvertently slide backwards in the plane body so that it contacts and possibly damages the plane blade. A threaded stop mounted in the plane body bears against the toe establishing the point to which the toe can slide back in the plane body. Rotation of the threaded stop moves the end of the stop by small, easily controlled increments, making it easy to change the width of the mouth while preventing contact between the toe and the plane blade.

A honing guide and bevel setting jig for removable attachment to the honing guide to properly position the angle and projection of a tool to be sharpened in the jig to enable the tool to be honed at the proper angle and position. An adjustable roller that contacts an abrasive surface during use of the guide facilitates formation of micro bevels. A tool securing bar having a generally triangular shape in the bar's middle section forces the arris-defining back of the tool being honed against a reference surface in the guide by tightening thumb nuts around threaded studs projecting from the bar. Jigs for use with both square and skew edge chisel and blades are described. A concave surface clamp bar honing guide provides enhanced gripping of the tool being honed, and wedges and adjustable structures expand the range of bevel angles that can be honed.

A marking gauge for marking a line parallel to an edge of a surface having a shaft, a fence for contact with the edge, and marker connections that allow markers of different types to be utilized in the alternative to mark the line. Other marking gauge features include a swivel chuck, a depth-adjustable chuck, and a fence positioned eccentric on the shaft of the marking gauge.

A cutter for use in fabricating dowels, plugs, or tenons has a hex-shaped shank and a body portion. The body portion includes a spur which may be carbide and is the first part of the cutter to contact the wood and which makes an initial depression into the wood. A cutting tooth has a cutting edge that may also be carbide for cutting a trough into the wood and is the widest part of the cutter. The exterior surfaces of the cutter above the cutting tooth are formed at smaller radial distances and consequently have less, if not no, contact with the piece of wood being cut. The cutting tooth may be tapered along its height whereby the bottom of the tooth would be the thickest part of the tooth and would have the most contact with the wood. Also, the portion of the cutter trailing the spur may be formed with teeth and flutes thereby reducing the amount of contact between the cutter and the wood. By reducing the amount of contact between the wood and the cutter, the cutter has a reduced amount of friction with the wood. Since a significant concern with conventional cutters is the build-up of heat, by reducing friction the cutters can also reduce the amount of heat generated and reduce any chance that the wood or the cutter becomes burned or otherwise damaged by the heat. Furthermore, the cutters are more efficient to operate since they require less torque and consume less electricity.

An adjustable beading and grooving tool having a combination handle and fence within which a blade holder telescopes. The holder is a longitudinally slotted cylinder having two holder arms, or may be two half-cylinders, between which a blade may be fixed to project a desired distance from the holder, thereby establishing the depth of workpiece surface penetration. The blade holder is separately, adjustably fixed in the handle with the blade located a desired distance from the fence surface to establish the location of the profile to be formed with respect to the workpiece edge against which the fence bears during use.
