The disclosure describes methods and systems for controlling a rotary dial input device. A dial of the rotary dial input device has a specific mass that, in conjunction with a low-friction rotational bearing system, provides a momentum scrolling effect when physically spun and released. Upon spinning the dial freely, without subsequent user contact, the mass and velocity of the rotating dial provides momentum that causes the dial to continue to rotate for one or more revolutions. During this rotation a corresponding effect is provided, or dynamically rendered, to a user interface display device. Such an effect scrolls a list of objects displayed at the same, or a substantially similar, rate of speed to that of the dial rotating under momentum.

A vehicle can produce a user interface that provides details about the autonomous driving benefits for a journey at the end of each trip and can keep a log of autonomous driving (AD) and manual driving (MD) history. The metrics that would be monitored and displayed may include one or more, but is not limited to, a time on the road, a time in traffic, money spent on electricity for a battery, a time in manual mode, a time in autonomous mode, multiple stops, hard accelerations, hard brakes, a time spent above the speed limit, routes taken, multiple stops along the way, regenerated energy, non-regenerated energy used, etc. The journey summary may include autonomous safety benefits that are unique to an AD vehicle.

Methods and systems for providing a mixed autonomy vehicle trip summary

A multiple input rotary dial user interface device and system is provided. The rotary dial user interface device may include a rotationally fixed touchpad, disposed within a center of a rotatable dial. Although fixed rotationally, the touchpad of the rotary dial user interface device may move in a linear axial direction, along the rotational axis, with or independently of the rotary dial. In addition to providing input by rotating the rotary dial, a user can provide input via touching the touchpad, actuating the touchpad, and/or actuating the rotary dial in the linear axial direction. In some cases, the rotary dial user interface device may employ the use of a static rotary encoder sensing rotation of an encoder wheel affixed to the rotary dial to determine momentum characteristics associated with the dial.

Methods and system of rendering a combined display including map and detected objects in environment surrounding a vehicle are provided. A display device or user interface combines active driver assist systems information and guidance data into one presentation of information that is overlaid onto a map. When a vehicle is in manual mode a user can easily and conveniently monitor all relevant driving data via the display device. A vehicle processor may receive map information from a navigation system and object data from vehicle sensors and systems monitoring an environment around a vehicle. This information may be fused together to form an integrated map presentation to be rendered to a display device associated with the vehicle. The map may be shown on an arrangement of multiple-plane surfaces that can resize and reshape to automatically and selectively enhance a level of detail in the presentation.

The food storage container can have a removable divider that can be used to create a plurality of smaller compartments. The food storage container can have a latch and hinge assembly to close the lid and tray. The food storage container can have an integral handle to provide a carrying solution.
