A discharge water system for the bilge of a boat includes a primary bilge discharge system and a supplemental bilge filtration system. The primary discharge system includes a pump operable when the fluid in the bilge collects above a predetermined level in the boat to discharge bilge water overboard. The supplemental system includes a filter assembly with filter media for removing hydrocarbons in bilge water passing through the media; and a pump operable when the water in the bilge collects to a selected level below the operating level &ldquo;L&rdquo; of the primary pump to pump bilge water to the filter assembly and then to discharge the essentially hydrocarbon-free bilge water overboard. The filter assembly includes primary secondary filter cartridge, both of which include hydrocarbon-absorbing media, and are connected in series. A pressure sensor and remote indicating device provide an indication of the primary filter cartridge becoming spent.

Supplemental bilge filtration system

An improved valve, responsive to the loss of coolant under pressure in a diesel engine or the like, to open and allow fluid flow downstream with a consequent loss in fluid pressure, which is recognized by a pressure sensitive fuel valve supplying fuel flow to the engine. The coolant loss valve includes a three-part housing having the periphery of an elastomeric rolling diaphragm trapped between two housing parts and forming a coolant chamber. A spring-loaded piston and pin assembly transmit diaphragm movement, the pin forming a valve controlling fluid flow through a die cast aluminum head structure which is the third part of the housing. A stainless steel pin is used for corrosion resistance and is supported for axial movement in a dual quad ring seal and sleeve structure.

Coolant loss valve for engine protective system

A filter cartridge uses two annular concentric filter media with a first contaminant outlet upstream from both media and a plurality of second contaminant outlets between the two filter media. A mating portion on the filter cartridge mates with a wall of a collection bowl having dual contaminant collection zones.

Filter assembly

A fuel filter assembly in which a filter cartridge, threadedly supported from a mounting unit, engages and supports a contaminant collection bowl having a plurality of collection zones respectively upstream and downstream of fuel treatment means within the cartridge. In general, a dual media filter element includes a flow passage axially thereof with means at one end for carrying the filter element from a support head, and means on the other for supporting a contaminant collection bowl beneath. A primer pump disposed axially of the filter element moves between advanced and retracted position therealong.
