A method and system for printing documents are provided. New print jobs are automatically analysed with respect to the device-specific properties of the individual pages and each page is designated, on the basis of the analysis, either for processing on a printer of the first type or the second type. Then, the jobs are made locally available for printing on each of the printers. A user may locally start a job on any of the printers and that printer then automatically selects and prints only the pages of the job that are designated for processing on its own type of printer. Then, the user may locally start that same job on any of the printers of the other type and that printer then also automatically selects and prints only the pages of the job designated for processing on its own type of printer.

A sheet processing apparatus provided with a sheet punching device and a processor unit for controlling the apparatus, said processor unit being adapted to enable an operator to specify sheet size, sheet orientation, and hole positions in batches of sheets being processed and creating a staggered stack of sheets by stacking said batches of sheets with holes aligned.

Smart punching

A method and apparatus for secure transmission of digital document data between multiple devices are provided. At a sending station, a document file is generated and a user-defined character string is inputted by an operator in the local user interface. Then, the sending station automatically forms an encryption key based on the user-defined character string and encrypts the document file therewith. However, one or more predetermined specifying header items of the file are not encrypted, to facilitate recognition and handling of the file. A transmission file, including the encrypted document file, is then transmitted towards a receiving station, where the encrypted document file is decrypted based on the same user-defined character string entered at the sending station, when the latter is entered in the local user interface of the receiving station. Even though the transmission file is encrypted, the unencrypted header items enable file handling, such as routing, and accounting.

Secure data transmission in a network system of image processing devices

A method and system are described for executing document scanning jobs intended for a remote work station through using a wireless connection between the work station and a scanner facility. When a user, carrying a mobile device, approaches a multifunctional reproduction device, automatically a scanning template will be uploaded from the mobile device to the multifunctional device. In case the user now makes himself known to the multifunctional device and prepares for a scan job, at the user interface of the multifunctional device, the scan template will be displayed for further specification of the scan job by the user. After completion of the scan job the scanned data is downloaded to the mobile device. When the connection is closed the scanning template and data belonging to the scan job are removed from the multifunctional device.

Method and system for executing document scanning jobs that are intended for a remote work station through using a wireless interconnection between the work station and a scanner facility

A system and method for generating digitized documents for a digital environment, having at least one scanner, a local operator control unit, and a management unit connected to the scanner or scanners. The management unit is provided with an input unit for receiving, from the digital environment, a request for a digitized document; a warning device for communicating a request for a digitized document to at least one scanner; a receiving unit for receiving from a scanner an acceptance of a request selected via the operator control unit; and an allocation unit whereby, in response to the acceptance, a scan order for generation of the digitized document requested in the said selected request is allocated to the scanner which sent the acceptance. This enables incoming scan orders to be held until a scanner is ready to execute them, without in any way interfering with current scanning processes.

Apparatus and method for automatic handling of scan orders

A user interface for an information-processing system having workstations for users and a number of printers on which it is possible to print files made at a workstation, all connected by a network. The print jobs of a user which have been sent to the printers are presented at his workstation in a list in combination with the name of the printer to which they have been sent. This applies to jobs which have not yet been or already have been finished in which the status of the job is also indicated. In this way a user can most efficiently direct his print jobs to an appropriate printer and thereafter track, via an actualized overview, all of his print jobs, their status and location. This permits a user to more readily find, control, and manage his print jobs.

User interface for an information-processing system

A digital image reproduction apparatus including a scanner unit, a printer unit, a memory, an operator control unit integrated in the apparatus and provided with an input device and a display for the user to give operator control commands to the apparatus, a network connection unit for coupling to a network for the purpose of communication with a digital external environment including at least a number of workstations of users, a management unit connected to the scanner unit, printer unit, memory and network connection unit, and, via the network connection unit, to the workstations, which management unit maintains logic storage spaces in the memory, each allocated to a specific user. The management unit, when receiving from a said user's workstation a digital data file for printing, stores the file in the logic storage space of the relevant user and passes it for printing to the printer unit only on a command from the operator control unit, which command identifies the relevant file, and also, on receipt from the operator control unit of an order for scanning, such job being provided with a user identification, stores the data generated by the scanner unit in the logic storage space of the relevant user and passes it to a workstation of the relevant user only on a command from the latter workstation, which command identifies the relevant file. Other files, such as sets of adjustment parameters for printing or scanning processes, can also be stored in the logic storage spaces.
