A gripper assembly for recovering a layout () from a sheet material () is presented. It comprises a vacuum gripper () with a gripper body () on which an array of air flow openings () is arranged. Air flow openings () associated with one or more blanks () of the layout () are selectively open and air flow openings () associated to waste () of the sheet material () are selectively closed. A machine for processing individual sheets comprises at least one processing station, in particular in inkjet printing station, and a transport system () for transporting the individual sheets through the processing station, along a transport direction. The transport system () comprises at least one gripper conveyor () movable along the transport direction, for gripping one of the individual sheets defining a sheet position in transport direction. The transport system () further comprises at least one support conveyor () movable along the transport direction for supporting a region of the individual sheet, wherein the support conveyor () comprises a vacuum system for supporting the individual sheet on an interacting surface of the support conveyor, the vacuum system comprising a plurality of orifices in the interacting surface. The machine allows for efficient and flexible handling of individual sheets, in particular large format sheets of materials such as corrugated cardboard or other materials that have a certain degree of inherent stability.

A device for aligning plate-like workpieces traveling in a machine direction in a machine processing them, more particularly in a folder-gluer, comprising an upper aligner and a lower aligner. This retractable central conveyor (,) being used in a folder-gluer converting plate-like workpieces such as paper or cardboard for producing packagings. Such a folder-gluer comprises two frames between which are arranged two lateral conveyors (,), the conveying means of which being belts (,). The conveyor of the present invention comprises a structure consisting of four associated components (,) which are transversely movable between the frames of the folder-gluer with respect to the travelling direction of said plate-like workpieces. Among these components of this structure, an upper longitudinal bar (,) can easily be manually lowered, in a vertical slanted movement, from a working position to a retracted position, and inversely raised by independent damping means (,). The central conveyor (,) can be retracted between the two lateral conveyors (,) thus enabling the folder-gluer to be used in a new configuration where uncoupling of the transmission means necessary for the independent drive of the belt (,) is not required and which belt (,) is rotatable even in the retracted position. This conveyor allows to arrange the two lateral conveyors (,) side by side so that the useable conveying width of the folder-gluer is reduced to a minimum value.

A folding device for blanks has the shape of a removable module with an integrated securing device for securing the module in the frame of a machine. The module has two series of pulleys, which have a common drive drum and provide a path for a first belt having an upper twisted folding path and a second belt having a lower planar part. The drum is provided with a connecting element to connect the drum directly to a shaft normally provided to drive a gluing wheel which the module replaces.
