Cookware has both as copper and a stainless steel mesh embedded in the exterior facing surface of the bottom of the base. The embedding process work hardens the bottom of an aluminum cooper vessel. A ferromagnetic stainless steel is embedded into the cooper mesh, forming portion of the exterior bottom surface of the cookware to render the cookware compatible with induction cooking heat sources.

A dual wall cookware article is formed by bonding a ferromagnetic metal base plate to an assembly that includes an inner vessel, a thermally conductive layer and an outer vessel frame. The outer vessel frame has upright walls that surround a bottom having plural perforations. The bonding process causes the softer thermally conductive material to flow through the perforations and bond ferromagnetic metal base to the outer vessel frame and the inner vessel.

A dual wall cooking vessel is formed by the impact or friction bonding of the an inner to an outer vessel wherein a laminate of aluminum and copper layers is disposed between the outer surface of the bottom of the inner vessel and the inner surface of the bottom of the outer vessel. The aluminum layers are arranged to surround the copper layer of the uppermost aluminum layer being the upper aluminum layer being thinner than the lower aluminum layer and having a slightly smaller diameter than the copper and aluminum layer. The appropriate dimensions of the aluminum layers and sequence of welding and bonding operation results in the co-extrusion of both aluminum layers into a portion of the adjacent sidewall formed by the gap between the walls of the inner and outer vessel. This co-extruded layer s of aluminum within the side walls and the bottom of the vessel improves the heat transfer from the outer vessel to the inner vessel during cooking, but without significantly diminishing the insulating properties of the dual wall vessel that serve to keep the food warm while it is being served.

Method of forming a double wall cooking vessel

A cooking vessel is formed with one or more annular rings rising above a laminate structure that exposes at least one more thermally conductive material of a contrasting color. The raised rings reveal the nature of the thermally conductive material, yet protect it from scratches and abrasion during use, such as when the cooking vessel is resting on a stove top.
