Techniques and apparatus for determining a transmit power limit based on sensor spatial coverage. A method that may be performed by a wireless communication device includes selecting a beam for transmission of a signal, determining a transmit power limit based at least in part on an overlap between the selected beam and a coverage zone of a sensor, and transmitting the signal via the beam at a transmit power based at least in part on the determined transmit power limit.

An apparatus is disclosed for jammer detection. In example aspects, the apparatus includes a wireless transceiver configured to be connected to multiple antennas. The wireless transceiver is configured to transmit a radar transmit signal using a first antenna of the multiple antennas. The wireless transceiver is also configured to receive a radar receive signal via a second antenna of the multiple antennas, with the radar receive signal associated with the radar transmit signal and comprising a jamming signal component. The wireless transceiver is additionally configured to adjust at least one transmission parameter based on a detected presence of the jamming signal component. The wireless transceiver is further configured to transmit an uplink signal based on the adjusted at least one transmission parameter.

Jammer detection

An apparatus is disclosed for injecting a frequency-modulated signal into a receiver. In an example aspect, the apparatus includes a receiver, a local oscillator circuit, and an injection circuit. The receiver comprises a signal propagation path. The local oscillator circuit is configured to generate a frequency-modulated signal. The injection circuit is coupled to the receiver and the local oscillator circuit. The injection circuit is configured to selectively connect the local oscillator circuit to the signal propagation path of the receiver to inject the frequency-modulated signal into the signal propagation path of the receiver. The injection circuit is also configured to disconnect the local oscillator circuit from the signal propagation path of the receiver.

Injecting a frequency-modulated signal into a receiver

An apparatus is disclosed that implements interference and/or clutter cancellation using cross-channel equalization. In example aspects, the apparatus includes a wireless transceiver configured to be connected to multiple feed ports. The wireless transceiver is also configured to transmit an electromagnetic signal using a first feed port of the multiple feed ports. A modulated spur is generated based on the transmission of the electromagnetic signal. The wireless transceiver is additionally configured to receive two versions of a receive signal respectively via two feed ports of the multiple feed ports. The receive signal comprises the modulated spur and a mutual-coupling component associated with the transmission of the electromagnetic signal. The wireless transceiver is further configured to generate a filtered signal by attenuating the mutual-coupling component and the modulated spur within one of the two versions of the receive signal using cross-channel equalization.

In some aspects, a wireless device may transmit a frequency-modulated continuous-waveform (FMCW) dual ramp radar signal over a time duration that sweeps from a first frequency to a second frequency and from the second frequency to the first frequency. The wireless device may receive a reflection of the radar signal with a first reflected part that corresponds to the first part of the radar signal and a second reflected part that corresponds to the second part of the radar signal. The wireless device may compare the first reflected part and a time-inverted version of the second reflected part to estimate a noise pattern. The wireless device may perform an action based at least in part on the noise pattern. Numerous other aspects are described.

In some aspects, a radar device may receive a plurality of received signals comprising a plurality of reflected frequency modulated continuous wave radar signals and phase noise. The radar device may obtain a frequency-domain representation of the received signals comprising a plurality of frequency-domain spectrums. The radar device may determine a shaped noise component of the frequency-domain representation corresponding to a negative distance portion of the frequency-domain representation. The radar device may determine a shaped decision boundary for target detection based at least in part on the shaped noise component, wherein the shaped decision boundary corresponds to a positive distance portion of the frequency-domain representation. The radar device may detect a radar target based at least in part on the shaped decision boundary. The radar device may perform an action based at least in part on detecting the radar target. Frequency modulated continuous wave radar detection in the presence of phase noise

Some disclosed devices include an inertial sensor system, a proximity sensor system, an antenna system configured to transmit and receive radio signals and a control system. The control system may be configured for receiving inertial sensor data from the inertial sensor system and controlling the proximity sensor system and/or the antenna system based, at least in part, on the inertial sensor data. In some examples, the control system may be configured for controlling the proximity sensor system and/or the antenna system based, at least in part, on whether the inertial sensor data indicates that the device is being held, is being carried or is on a person's body (e.g., is in the person's pocket).

Enhanced radio wave exposure mitigation using a combination of proximity and inertial sensor data

Aspects of the disclosure relate to radar-based signaling for detecting, measuring, and/or characterizing a target object. An electronic device may transmit a plurality of detection signals and receive a plurality of reflection signals reflected from the target object. The electronic device then processes the plurality of reflection signals to extract one or more parameters of the target object. Based on the reflection signals, the device can measure and/or characterize the target object, e.g., to obtain a heart rate and/or breathing rate. In other examples, the device may determine whether the reflection signals indicate human vital signs, such as a heart rate or breathing. The electronic device may then adjust at least one transmission parameter based on whether human vital signs are detected at the target object, and transmit the adjusted signal using the transmission parameter. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Wireless communication with enhanced maximum permissible exposure (MPE) compliance based on vital signs detection

In some aspects, a radar device may receive a received signal comprising a reflected frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar signal and interference. The radar device may identify the reflected FMCW radar signal based at least in part on performing a phase based search procedure to facilitate removing the interference from the received signal. The radar device may perform an action based at least in part on a characteristic of the identified reflected FMCW radar signal. Numerous other aspects are described.

An apparatus is disclosed for proximity detection using multiple power levels. In an example aspect, the apparatus includes a first antenna, a second antenna, and a wireless transceiver coupled to the first antenna and the second antenna. The wireless transceiver is configured to transmit multiple transmit signals at multiple power levels via the first antenna. The wireless transceiver is also configured to receive multiple receive signals via the second antenna. At least one receive signal of the multiple receive signals includes a portion of at least one transmit signal of the multiple transmit signals that is reflected by an object. The wireless transceiver is additionally configured to adjust a transmission parameter based on the at least one receive signal. The transmission parameter varies according to a range to the object.

Proximity detection using multiple power levels

Systems and methods for detecting a body part like a human hand near a base station or a user equipment are disclosed. A plurality of radar pulses is transmitted from a communication device in succession and the reflected plurality of radar pulses is received sampled and adaptively processed to remove transmit and receive antenna mutual coupling and clutter from stationary objects near the body part. In one aspect the adaptive processing is accomplished with a single tap adaptive filter. The processed signal may be used to determine if there is a human body part near the communication device allowing the device to determine whether it is safe for the device to transmit a millimeter wave communication signal.

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for determining one or more attributes of at least one target based on eigenspace analysis of radar signals are presented. In some embodiments, a subset of eigenvectors to use for forming a signal or noise subspace is identified based on principal component analysis. In some embodiments, the subset of eigenvectors is identified based on estimating the total number of targets using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) or other spectral analysis technique. In some embodiments, a DFT is used to identify areas of interest in which to perform eigenspace analysis. In some embodiments, a DFT is used to estimate one attribute of a target, and eigenspace analysis is performed to estimate a different attribute of the target, with the results being combined to generate a multi-dimensional representation of a field of view.
