A motor vehicle body has at least two sills running laterally in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. An auxiliary frame is provided in a region of a front axle and at least one strut is provided, the strut running between the auxiliary frame of the front axle and one of the two lateral sills. This makes it possible in particular to increase the natural frequency of a vehicle front end by structurally simple and also cost-effective measures.

Motor vehicle body

An inner gusset plate is connected, in each case in the region of the C pillar, to a roof frame cross-member, to a lateral roof frame member and to a rear sealing channel cheek of a motor vehicle or of a rear part of a motor vehicle. The inner gusset plate is arranged opposite a further, outer, connected gusset plate. The two gusset plates form a pillar profile and are connected to a wheel box of the body structure. The inner gusset plate is supported via adjoining inner brackets on a longitudinal member of the vehicle, which longitudinal member is adjoined by two cross-members in the vehicle floor, which cross-members are arranged in the region of the supporting base of the inner bracket on the longitudinal member.

For the effective absorption of a side impact in a motor vehicle, a transversely extending component is provided in the vehicle that comprises a bearing element and profile parts situated on the ends thereof.

A deformation element formed of a triangular assembly of interconnected structural channels is mounted in a trunk well in the forward section of a vehicle. In their respective longitudinal directions, the channels incorporate hollow compartments, separated by partitions, which, in the event of a collision, have an impact-energy-absorbing effect.

A passenger car is configured with a dashboard installed between a front of the car and a passenger compartment. At least two front longitudinal beams are installed at a distance from each other and are connected to this dashboard, lateral exterior frontwalls, a floor and upright A-columns. In the area of the dashboard, a support structure is provided by means of which the front longitudinal beams are connected to the upright A-columns, the frontwalls, the dashboard and the center tunnel as power transmitters. A support structure with an increased energy absorption potential that can be produced at low costs, and which is provided in the area of the dashboard, is created so that the support structure is realized as a rigid tubular frame which is installed on the dashboard facing the passenger compartment, whereby the tubular frame is connected with at least the dashboard, the A-columns and the subjacent frontwalls.

Body assembly and method of making same

A passenger compartment for a passenger car has one B-column on each vehicle body side which leads into a side member situated below the B-column for increasing the transverse stiffness of the passenger compartment in the event of side impact loads. A transversely stiffening tube construction is composed of two laterally exterior upright reinforcing tubes and a tube-shaped stiffening element which extends over the width of the vehicle body. In order to achieve a more favorable introduction of force in the event of a side impact load, each upright reinforcing tube is linked to an adjoining connection plate with a lower edge area which is supported on the exterior side of the side member. An inwardly projecting supporting tube leads away from each reinforcing tube above the elevation of the side member. This supporting tube is rigidly connected in the area of the passenger compartment with one of the outer ends of the transversely extending, tube-shaped stiffening element.
