The invention refers to a device for attachment to a rotating part () of a railway vehicle incorporating an arrangement, which is adapted, during movement of the railway vehicle, to detect and evaluate parameters related to the railway vehicle service and/or to an incipient fault state of wheel bearings () in the railway vehicle, and which device () is arranged to emit signals representative for the detected and evaluated parameters.

Surveying device for the running parameters of railway bearings

A wheel () of a railway vehicle is associated with a vibration sensor () for supplying a vibration impulsive signal (V), indicative of the vibration of the wheel, to an electronic processing unit (E). This generates, based on the vibration signal (V), an impulsive surveillance signal (S) the instant value of which is increased in a manner correlated to the amplitude of each vibration impulse (I) and decreased in accordance with a predetermined law after each vibration impulse. The processing unit (E) compares the instant value of the surveillance signal (S) with a reference threshold value (T) and automatically generates an alarm signal (A) when the instant value of the surveillance signal (S) reaches or exceeds the reference threshold value (T).

Method and apparatus for detecting and signalling derailment conditions in a railway vehicle

A railway axle hub unit of the type including an axle box housing ( ) for supporting a bearing, is provided with a sensor body ( ) containing sensors ( ) for detecting vibration in the vertical direction and the horizontal axial direction. The sensor body is mounted onto a stationary support element ( ) rigidly secured to the bearing, preferably an annular sealing insert. The sensors perform monitoring of the operation condition of the hub unit by generating and transmitting signals indicative of the detected level of vibration to an electronic processing unit mounted on board of the railway vehicle or the train. The processing unit is capable of signalling in real time an impending failure and/or a damaged condition associated with the monitored hub unit.

In a goods wagon axle bearing assembly of the type provided with a sealing device (20) at its axially outer end, the sealing device comprises a rigid, non-rotating shield (21). Integrated with the sealing device (20) is a current generator, consisting of a magnetised impulse generating ring (25) rotatably fast with one of the rotating parts (12) of the bearing, and a coil (24) operatively facing the magnetised impulse ring and secured to the non-rotating shield (21). A device for detecting speed in a braking system between two relatively rotatable elements, such as, the inner and outer rings of a roller bearing used to support a vehicle wheel. The device includes a first deflector mounted on one of the bearing rings having a magnetized ring member and a plurality of radially outwardly facing poles separated by non-magnetized spaces and a serrated annular member having a plurality of radially inwardly facing ribs. The device further includes a second deflector integral with a fixed ring of the bearing having at least one magnetic sensor engageable between the two bearing rings and spaced to intersect the magnetic fields to produced a plurality of signals per revolution. The signal produced by the sensor has a frequency proportional to the relative speed of the inner and outer bearing rings.
