A ram air module for use in a ram air system, the ram air module includes a diffuser having a diffuser body including an inlet end and an outlet end, a flow diverter assembly connected to the inlet end of the diffuser body, and a valve connected to the outlet end of the diffuser body.

An air cycle machine includes a housing having an exterior wall and an interior wall, a scavenging turbine supported for rotation within the housing, and an ambient air fan. The ambient air fan is supported for rotation within the housing and is operably associated with the scavenging turbine. The interior wall defines therethrough a turbine-fan port that fluidly couples the ambient air fan to the scavenging turbine for communication of an overboard air flow to an ambient air flow without external ducting. Environmental control systems and methods of flowing fluid through air cycle machines are also described.

Air cycle machines and methods of communicating fluid through air cycle machines

An air cycle machine includes a housing, a scavenging turbine, and an ambient air fan. The housing has an exterior wall defining an overboard air inlet, an ambient air inlet, and an ambient air outlet. The scavenging turbine is arranged within the housing, is supported for rotation about a rotation axis, and is in fluid communication with the overboard air inlet. The ambient air fan is arranged within the housing, is supported for rotation about the rotation axis within the housing, and has a radially inner spoked portion and radially outer bladed portion. The bladed portion of the ambient air fan fluidly couples the ambient air inlet to the ambient air outlet and the spoked portion of the ambient air fan fluidly couples the scavenging turbine to the ambient air fan within the housing. Environmental control systems and fluid communication methods are also described.

A fan rotor for a ram air fan includes a hub and blades extending radially outwards from the hub. The hub includes an inner hub portion, a disk portion connected to a radially outer surface of the inner hub portion, and an outer hub portion connected to a radially outer surface of the disk portion. The outer hub portion has an upstream arm with a compound contoured surface. The compound contoured surface is configured to direct air flow around the compound contoured surface and along roots of the blades.

Disclosed is a pressurization air conditioning arrangement, the arrangement having: a turbine including a housing and a rotor within the housing, wherein the rotor is a dual scroll and including an inner shroud separating a first set of rotor blades from a second set of rotor blades; a diffuser extending from an exhaust of the turbine; and an exhaust shroud within the diffuser, the exhaust shroud dividing the diffuser into an inner diffuser passage and an outer diffuser passage.

A heat exchanger includes a stack of flow conduits. Each flow conduit is configured to conduct a fluid. Parting sheets separate adjacent flow conduits in the stack, providing heat transfer between them. Each of the flow conduits includes vanes extending along a vane path and between top and bottom parting sheets. The vanes are separated from one another, thereby creating flow channels. Each flow conduit also includes a plurality of flow modifiers, each adjacent to a corresponding leading edge of a corresponding vane, so as to cause a disrupted portion of a fluid flow to be incident upon the corresponding leading edge. Each of the flow modifiers includes an aerodynamic portion and a gap portion. The aerodynamic portion extends from at least one of the top and bottom parting sheets. The aerodynamic portion does not connect the top and bottom parting sheets due to the gap portion.

An embodiment of an electric motor assembly includes a stator assembly extending generally along the longitudinal axis and at least partially enclosing a rotor assembly also extending along the longitudinal axis. The rotor assembly includes a rotating portion and one or more sets of rotor windings. The stator assembly includes a stationary housing having at least an inner wall and an outer wall, and one or more sets of stator windings in electromagnetic communication with the one or more sets of rotor windings. A heat exchanger is integrally formed into the housing, and includes a plurality of dividing walls extending between the inner and outer housing walls. The plurality of dividing walls are arranged at least partially circumferentially around the longitudinal axis to define, with the inner and outer walls, a corresponding plurality of integral heat exchanger channels arranged at least partially circumferentially around the one or more sets of stator windings. A plurality of rib turbulators are disposed on at least a channel-facing surface of the inner wall.

A heat exchanger assembly includes a plurality of first and second fluid passages defined by a pair of opposing first fluid passage walls and a plurality of first fluid diverters disposed between the first fluid passages walls. The second fluid passages are defined by a pair of opposing second fluid passage walls and a plurality of second fluid diverters disposed between the second fluid passage walls. An ejector is integrated into the heat exchanger assembly. The ejector includes: an integral ejector passage, wherein the integral ejector passage is a first fluid passage; a primary inlet configured to receive a hot fluid; an outlet nozzle configured to eject the hot fluid; a secondary inlet configured to receive a cold fluid, wherein the secondary inlet is in fluid communication with a second fluid passage; and a mixing section in fluid communication with the outlet nozzle and the secondary inlet.

An example fan assembly impeller moves air along a secondary flow path when driven by a motor. The motor also drives a fan rotor to move air along a primary flow path of the fan assembly. Air moving along the primary flow path moves in a first direction. Air moving along the secondary flow path moves in a second direction opposite the first direction. An example fan shroud communicates air used to cool a motor into a primary flow path of a fan assembly. The shroud communicates the air into the primary flow path so that the flow of air is at least partially aligned with air moving through the primary flow path of the fan assembly.

A removable and reusable publication marker for use in placing an emphasis on significant segments of text, most particularly, specific chapters and verses of the bible. The markers are of nominal thickness and are fabricated from transparent plastic materials of varying colors so as to not impede with the legibility of the bible text. The markers have a light adhesive backing which permits the same to be applied to a page adjacent a desired segment of text and which permits the same to be easily removed from the page and reused if desired. Each color may correspond with a particular area or topic of study. The markers are removably attachable to one or more release sheets. When not in use, the release sheets are retained in an storage pocket which, in turn, is inconspicuously attachable to a the printed publication. The pocket may be provided with a color chart associating the various colored markers with corresponding topics. The pocket may further contain a locus stimulus to assist the reader in becoming familiar publication and certain text appearing in the publication.
