A system for treating teeth and associated tooth structure using a pressurized air propellant mixed with abrasive material includes a manifold which defines air passages leading from the pressurized air source to dispensing chambers which hold the abrasive material. The manifold further provides a convenient structure for mounting a number of the system components. The manifold simplifies assembly of the system and improves the integrity of air passages within the system. The air abrasion system also has a mixing block and continuous purge feature which eliminate crosstalk and backflow problems when switching between abrasive materials. Evacuation apparatus incorporating a cyclone separator is integrally provided with the system which requires minimal regular maintenance and maximizes suction flow through the apparatus. A boost feature of the system is provided to selectively increase the ratio of abrasive material to air in an air-abrasive material mixture, thereby increasing the rate of tooth reduction, without requiring additional air pressure.

An abrasion hand piece for use with an air abrasion system to perform dental procedures. The hand piece is adapted for connection to the air abrasion system by a hose and has a body member which allows tips to be releasably attached thereto. The releasable tip feature allows the body member to be used with a number of different tips, thereby reducing the number of tools that the dentist must have on hand and must sterilize between procedures. The tips have an outer coating which is softer and warmer to the patient when placed in the mouth. The outer coating is color coded so that the orifice size of the tips may be readily identified. An illumination device is attached to the hand piece to allow the dentist to better monitor the procedure and to provide for aiming the hand piece at the desired tooth area. The hand piece with releasable tip feature, when used with an abrasion system having a continuous purge, allows the tip to be removed and used later during the same procedure without creating a crosstalk or backflow situation.

Upright panel support bracket for table

A table or desk is provided with a horizontally enlarged worksurface, and a bracket-supported rear panel arrangement can be readily mounted to a project upwardly along a rear edge of the worksurface. The panel arrangement includes a pair of upright brackets which have C-shaped lower parts which create a clamping engagement around the rear edge of the worksurface so that special constructional features on the worksurface are not required. The brackets have upright parts which project upwardly and, along rear vertical edges thereof, have attachment structure for permitting an upright panel to be attached thereto, which panel is then disposed directly adjacent the rear edge of the worksurface and projects upwardly and longitudinally thereof. The bracket includes first and second attachment structures associated therewith, with one attachment structure permitting a grid-like panel to be mounted thereon. Alternatively, or in conjunction with the grid-like panel, the second attachment structure permits a privacy screen or tack board to be attached to the brackets, the latter being spaced rearwardly of the location where the grid-like panel mounts.

A table having a horizontally enlarged worksurface, and a pair of leg assemblies fixed to the worksurface directly at the opposite end edges thereof and projecting downwardly for engagement with a floor. Each leg assembly includes an upright leg member disposed directly at the rear corner of the worksurface, and at its lower end this leg is fixed to a horizontally elongate foot which projects forwardly for engagement with the floor. The leg adjacent its upper end has a support bracket which projects forwardly directly under and fixedly secured to the worksurface in close proximity to the end edge thereof. The outer side surfaces of the leg and base are preferably vertically flat and substantially vertically coplanar, and are also substantially vertically coplanar with the end edge of the table. A cable-accommodating trough is fixed to and extends horizontally between the legs in downwardly spaced relation from the rear edge of the worksurface. This trough defines two separate channels for permitting separation of telecommunication and power cables. The trough projects a small distance beyond the rear edge of the worksurface and legs to facilitate feeding of cables from the worksurface downwardly past the rear edge thereof to the trough, and the feeding of cables directly between aligned troughs of linking tables by passing the cables directly behind the legs.

Linkable modular table

A freestanding table having a worksurface supported on height-adjustable legs, each having a height-adjusting mechanism. These mechanisms are simultaneously driven through a driving element such as an endless chain driven by a driving sprocket disposed adjacent the underside of the worksurface. The driving sprocket is nonrotatably connected to a rotatable hub supported in a recess in the worksurface, which recess also accommodates a foldable crank. The crank when in a folded and stored position is disposed in the recess so as to be substantially flush with the upper surface of the worksurface. The crank is pivotally joined about a first axis to an intermediate link which in turn is pivotally joined about a second axis to a rotatable hub so that the crank can be pivoted upwardly through an angle of about 180.degree. so as to be disposed above the worksurface to permit manual gripping and hence rotation thereof when height adjustment is desired.
