The invention relates to a sealant antifog composition for polyester films comprising anionic and non-ionic surfactants in a mixture of amorphous and (semi)crystalline polyesters. The invention also relates to a multi-layer film comprising a sealant layer having the above composition, to the use of said films in food packaging and to the packages obtained therefrom.

Antifog sealant composition and coextruded multilayer polyester film including the same

The present invention relates to thermoforming food packaging methods and to dual ovenable thermoformed food packages suitable for cooking food products directly in the package in microwave, conventional and convection ovens. These packages are characterized by good hermeticity, clean peelability, self-venting, very good optics and, if shrunk, a very appealing appearance.

Antimicrobial packaging films

Coextruded, biaxially oriented multilayer films comprising a base layer comprising a polyester having an intrinsic viscosity greater than 0.75 dl/g and a heat-sealable layer directly adhered to said base layer, said heat-sealable layer comprising an amorphous polyester having a melting temperature not higher than the melting temperature of the polyester of the base layer and a thermoplastic resin characterized in that the heat-sealable layer comprises a further polyester resin are described. Also packages comprising a container, a food product and the above coextruded, biaxially oriented multilayer film are described. The packages are particularly suitable for 'ready-meals' to be used in conventional oven at high temperatures.

Multilayer polyester film for ready meals

A multilayer oriented film comprising at least one layer (a) comprising one or more polyesters and/or copolyesters characterized by a % of crystallinity higher than 15, an adjacent layer (b) comprising one or more polyolefin-based adhesive resins, and a layer (c) comprising one or more co-polyesters characterized by a % of crystallinity lower than 15, is positioned between said two layers (a) and (b) in such a way that one of the two principal surfaces of layer (c) is directly adhered to layer (a) and the other is directly adhered to layer (b). The presence of a co-polyester layer (c) of relatively low % crystallinity positioned between (co)polyester layer (a) and adhesive layer (b) remarkably increases the bond between the two layers (a) and (b) and prevents delamination problems in the oriented structure.

Multilayer oriented film

The invention relates to a high modulus, bi-axially oriented film, heat-shrinkable or non heatshrinkable, comprising a first outer layer comprising a polyester or a copolyester, a second outer layer comprising an ethylene or propylene homo- or co-polymer, a core layer comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer, and no core polyamide or polyester layers. The film according to the present invention is prepared by orienting biaxially a flat extruded tape by means of a tenter frame, preferably simultaneously, and has a modulus higher than 6,000 kg/cmin at least one direction. The film of the present invention is particularly useful, in the non heat-shrinkable version, for food and non food packaging applications.

Multilayer oriented high-modulus film

Coextruded, biaxially oriented, heat-shrinkable films having a base layer comprising a polyester having an intrinsic viscosity greater than 0.75 and at least one outer heat-sealable layer directly adhered to the base layer are disclosed. The outer layer is heat-sealable and optionally peelable in particular to polyester containers. The invention further relates to a process for producing the film and to packages comprising a container, a product and the coextruded, biaxially-oriented heat-shrinkable film sealed onto the container. The packages are suitable for use with ready-prepared foods, so-called 'ready-meals', which are intended to be warmed in a microwave or in a conventional oven.

Coextruded heat-shrinkable polyester film

A multi-layer, thermoplastic film bi-axially oriented at a stretching ratio &#x2267; to about 3.0:1 in the machine direction and at a stretching ratio &#x2267; about 6.0:1 in the transverse direction, which film comprises a layer a) comprising at least 50 wt. % of a crystalline or partially crystalline co-polyamide characterized by a T&#x2266;100&#xb0; C. and at least one outer heat-sealing layer b) comprising a polyolefin, said film being further characterized in that it has a % free shrink at 100&#xb0; C.&#x2266;3 in each direction.

Biaxially oriented and heat-set multilayer thermoplastic film for packaging

A bi-axially oriented, heat-shrinkable multi-layer film comprising a core layer (A) comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH), a first outer layer (B) comprising an ethylene homo- or co-polymer and a second outer layer (C), which may be equal to or different from the first outer layer (B), comprising an ethylene homo- or co-polymer, characterized in that said film has been bi-axially oriented at an orientation ratio in the longitudinal direction higher than 4:1, preferably higher than 4.5:1, more preferably of at least 5:1 and at an orientation ratio in the cross-wise direction higher than 4:1, preferably higher than 4.5:1, more preferably of at least 5:1, is obtained by a process which comprises melt extrusion of the film polymers through a flat die and orientation of the obtained cast sheet simultaneously in the longitudinal and the transversal directions by a simultaneous tenter.

Highly bi-axially oriented, heat-shrinkable, thermoplastic, multi-layer film and process for the manufacture thereof

A stretch film heat-sealable to polystyrene-based material comprising a first outer heat-sealing layer, a second outer layer and at least an intermediate layer, comprising in the first outer heat-sealing layer a TPE-S such as a styrene-butadiene-styrene block terpolymer (SBS) or a hydrogenated derivative thereof. Also described are packages made with the new stretch film.

Multi-layer stretch film

A highly oriented, heat-shrinkable, multi-layer film comprising a layer a) comprising a polyamide and an outer heat-sealing layer b) comprising a polyolefin, which film has been oriented at a stretching ratio &gE; about 3.0:1 in the machine direction and at a stretching ratio &gE; about 6.0:1 in the transverse direction, characterized in that the polyamide of layer a) is a crystalline or partially crystalline co-polyamide with a T,&lE;100&deg; C.

Heat-shrinkable multilayer thermoplastic film

A thermoplastic multilayer packaging film has a core layer including ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer; two outer layers, and two adhesive layers each disposed between the core layer and a respective outer layer, characterized in that at least one of the outer layers includes a blend of A, B, and C, wherein component A is a homogeneous or heterogeneous ethylene/alpha olefin copolymer with density comprised greater than 0.915 g/cm,and less than 0.925 g/cm,, component B is a homogeneous or heterogeneous ethylene/alpha olefin copolymer with density greater than or equal to 0.925 g/cm,, and component C is a homogeneous or heterogeneous ethylene/alpha olefin copolymer with density less than or equal to 0.915 g/cm,. The use of modified homogeneous ethylene/alpha olefin copolymers with a density of from 0.900 g/cm,to 0.908 g/cm,as adhesive layers to improve the interlayer adhesion and the sealability properties of films with a core layer comprising an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer or a polyamide and outer layers comprising an ethylene/alpha olefin copolymer is also described.

Multilayer oxygen barrier packaging film

A method of making the a multilayer, biaxially oriented, heat shrinkable thermoplastic film includes a layer having between 50 and 100 parts by weight ethylene/alpha-olefin C,-C,copolymer, and between 0 and 50 parts by weight of a polymer selected from polyolefin, and modified polyolefin, the layer having more than one melting point when detected by diffential scanning calorimetry according to ASTM D-3418; wherein the total thickness variation in the multilayer film is lower than &plusmn;10%.
