Powder coating compositions for low temperature cure between 100° C. and 150° C. The powder coating compositions contain: a) a carboxylic acid functional resin A which is a polyester resin A having carboxylic acid groups, b) a first glycidyl functional resin B1 which is a bisphenol A based epoxy resin having glycidyl groups, c) a second glycidyl functional resin B2 which is a phenol or cresol epoxy novolac resin having glycidyl groups, and d) at least one thermosetting curing catalyst C. Such powder coating compositions may exhibit, upon curing, an excellent combination of physical properties such as smoothness, flexibility, hardness and, above all, an outstanding durability for the MEK impregnation test.

Low bake powder coating resins

The invention relates to powder coating compositions suitable for low temperature powder coating crosslinking typically at curing temperature is between 75 and 140° C. which can be used for powder coating temperature-sensitive substrates like MDF, wood, plastic or temperature sensitive metal alloys.

Powder coating composition

The invention relates to a powder coating composition for low temperature curing that can be used on temperature sensitive substrates and, despite of the low curing temperature, has excellent flow properties and forms a coating with excellent appearance and nevertheless also good mechanical and weathering properties. The invention also relates to an advantageous process for the manufacture of the powder coating composition. Said powder coating composition comprises a poly-acid functional polyester component A, a poly-epoxy functional component B, a poly-anhydride functional component C and a thermosetting curing catalyst D. The invention also relates to a polyester for use in the powder coating compositions according to the invention, in particular for durable powder coatings.

Low temperature cure powder coating compositions

A thermosetting powder coating composition comprising a binder, wherein 100 parts by weight of the binder comprises (A) from 30 to 70 parts by weight of at least one carboxylic acid functional branched polyester having an acid number of at least 77 mg KOH/g, and (B) from 70 to 30 parts by weight of at least one carboxylic acid functional polyester having an acid number of lower than 50 mg KOH/g. The thermosetting powder composition may be used for coating metallic and non-metallic substrates, it provides outstanding flow and permits to obtain low gloss coatings, provides excellent mechanical properties, and exhibits good solvent resistance and weathering.

Branched polyester for powder coatings

A thermosetting and/or radiation curable powder with a binder prepared from a polyester (PE) obtained from a polyol with lower amounts of neopentyl glycol (NPG). The powder forms smooth defect free coats and is resistant to contamination from conventional NPU-rich PE.

Powder compositions

A method of use of copolymers containing fluoro groups and hydroxyl groups as additives in powder coating materials, comprising mixing these component with powder coatings resins, the copolymers comprising units of the following monomers: olefinically unsaturated monomers having from 5 to 40 carbon atoms, at least one hydroxyl group, and at least one free-radically polymerizable C&#x2550;C double bond, alkyl esters of monoolefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids or dialkyl esters of olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids or mixtures thereof, and (per)fluoroalkyl esters of said carboxylic acids, and powder coating materials which comprise these additives for the purpose of improving the flow properties and the surface.
