An oral irrigator including a handle, a tip, and a pump at least partially received within the handle and fluidly coupled to the tip. The pump includes a pump body defining a pump chamber, an inlet valve regulating fluid flow into the pump chamber, an outlet valve regulating fluid flow out of the pump chamber, a piston, and a linkage operably coupled to the piston and a drive shaft of a motor. The linkage translates rotational movement of the drive shaft into movement of the piston in first and second directions within pump chamber. When the piston moves in the first direction, the inlet valve opens, allowing fluid to flow into the pump chamber, and the outlet valve closes. When the piston moves in the second direction, the inlet valve closes and the outlet valve opens, allowing fluid to flow out of the pump chamber.

Oral irrigator

An irrigating device including a reservoir for storing fluid, a tip fluidly connected to the reservoir, and a pump operative to draw fluid from the reservoir and propel the fluid to the tip. The irrigating device further includes at least one reed valve positioned to regulate fluid between at least one of an inlet port or an exhaust port of the pump.

A molded arm for a showerhead may be configured to connect a showerhead to a fluid supply, and may be in the form of a molded body defining an inlet, an outlet and an interior passage providing fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet. An arm assembly may be configured to connect a showerhead to a fluid supply, and may include: a molded arm body defining an inlet, an outlet and an interior passage providing fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet; and a separate attachment component configured to cooperate with the molded body and to engage a structure connected to a fluid supply. A method of making an arm for connecting a showerhead to a fluid supply may include molding an arm body to define an inlet, an outlet and an interior passage between the inlet and the outlet.

According to one broad aspect of one embodiment of the present invention, disclosed herein is a hand held oral irrigation device having a tip for dispensing fluids. In one example, an oral irrigation device includes a body portion, and a reservoir for storing fluids, wherein the body and/or the reservoir define a first major diameter at a lower end of the oral irrigation device, and define a second major diameter at an upper end of the oral irrigation device, the first major diameter being larger than the second major diameter. In this example, by providing such a geometry for the device, a user can grasp the device with one hand about the second major diameter during use. In another example, the body includes a pump for pumping fluids from the reservoir to the tip, wherein the pump includes an inlet valve and an outlet valve, the inlet valve including a reed valve made of flexible fabric material. The outlet valve may also include a reed valve made of flexible fabric material.

A filter apparatus includes a cylindrical reservoir with a pistol grip handle. A conical funnel is releasably mounted on the reservoir by quick release threads. A plurality of radially extending support ribs within the funnel support a porous filter disk secured between the reservoir and the funnel. A depending annular seal ring on the reservoir defines a sealing edge which engages the filter disk and seals it against a seal surface and seat on the interior surface of the funnel.

A battery-powered toothbrush has an elongated housing shaped to be grasped by the human hand. The housing encloses a battery-energized motor which drives a brush shaft that has a stub projecting through a nose of the housing and upon which in use a brush is mounted. A generally tubular housing shell confines the battery, motor and shaft. An upper half shell is of a U-shaped exterior cross section over a substantial portion of its length, while a lower half shell is mated to the upper half shell in definition of the housing and is of semi-cylindrical exterior cross-section over a like substantial portion of its length. The distance along those substantial portions approximates the width of the adult human hand. The shaft is offset downwardly from the longitudinal geometric axis. All shell portions of different diameter merge smoothly into other portions of the shell.
