A hybrid medical imaging system comprises a nuclear medicine imaging subsystem for capturing an image of a target region of a subject, a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) subsystem for capturing an MRI image of the target region based on at least one MRI parameter and processing structure communicating with the subsystems. The processing structure processes the MRI image to estimate attenuation within the target region and uses the estimated attenuation to correct the image captured by the nuclear medicine imaging subsystem.

System and method for correcting attenuation in hybrid medical imaging

An apparatus for quantifying contrast agent behavior of an administrated contrast agent within a region of interest, comprises an imaging device configured to acquire images of a subject and processing structure communicating with the imaging device. The processing structure is configured to process image data of the acquired images to yield a time sequence of images, I(t), at a location (I) outside of the region of interest that detect contrast agent concentration before the contrast agent enters the region of interest and to yield a time sequence of images, J(t), at a location (J) within the region of interest that detect the contrast agent concentration as the contrast agent perfuses the region of interest. The processing structure is further configured to deconvolve I(t) from J(t) to determine a vector describing the time estimate of the impulse response function, R'(t), for the region of interest, where the shape of the vector is constrained using physiologic and physical considerations and I(t)R&#x2032;(t) is the maximum likelihood estimate of J(t), wheredenotes convolution, and configured to determine the behaviour of the contrast agent in the region of interest based on the determined vector.

Method and apparatus for quantifying the behavior of an administered contrast agent

The invention is the novel use of Quantum Dots (QDs) for radiation dosimetry and includes novel dosimetry devices, systems and methods. The devices, systems and methods have use in a variety of dosimetry applications such as personal, environmental and research. The system for detecting doses of ionizing radiation comprises; a matrix comprising a photoluminescent semiconductor nanocrystals; an illumination interface for exposing the matrix to non-ionizing radiation; a response characterization interface for measuring photoluminescence, scatter or the optical density of the matrix and identifying differences in the photoluminescence, scatter or optical density caused by exposure to ionizing radiation; and a readout interface to quantify the photoluminescence or optical density differences as doses of radiation.
