An endoprosthesis for deployment within a body passage includes a framework and a metallic film, which can circumferentially surround the framework or be surrounded by the framework. The framework and metallic film can be attached without using a third material, e.g., without sewing. The framework can define a circumferential recess along at least a portion of its length and circumference. The recess accommodates at least a portion of the metallic film therein.

Medical devices including metallic films

Medical devices, such as endoprostheses, and methods of making the devices are disclosed. The medical device can include a stent body and a cover including a deposited metallic film. The medical device can be delivered using a delivery device along a tortuous body passage to a treatment site without damaging the medical device, delivery device, or the body passage. In some cases, the stent body is a flexible helical stent body, which may be threaded through one or more fenestrations of the cover. The cover may include longitudinally extending slits or seams, which help the cover to pass through small radii passages without buckling.

Implantable medical endoprosthesis delivery system

Medical devices, such as endoprostheses, and methods of making the devices are disclosed. The medical device can include a composite cover formed of a deposited metallic film and one or more polymer layers. The polymer layers contribute to mechanical or biological properties of the endoprosthesis.

Hypotubes such as micromachined hypotubes can include one or more tie layers appropriate for subsequent application of a hydrophilic coating. In particular, a medical device may include a micromachined hypotube having a level of flexibility and a tie layer disposed over the hypotube such that the medical device has a level of flexibility at least substantially equivalent to the level of flexibility of the hypotube.

A bifurcated stent comprises a body portion, a first branch portion, a second branch portion, a first pivot portion and a second pivot portion constructed from a common continuous sheet of stent material. The body portion, first branch portion and second branch portion provided with a substantially tubular shape, the tubular shape of each defines a lumen respectively therethrough. The lumen defined by the body portion is in fluid communication with the lumen defined by the first branch portion and the second branch portion. The first branch portion is pivotally engaged to an end of the body portion by the first pivot portion. The second branch portion is pivotally engaged to an end of the body portion by the second pivot portion.

Bifurcated stent

An intravascular electrophysiology (EP) device for the mapping and/or formation of lesions along the isthmus region of a heart that has particular utility in the treatment of atrial flutter. The EP device of the invention has an elongated shaft with a proximal section, a compound-curved or modified pigtail-shaped distal section, and a plurality of at least partially exposed electrodes disposed on an outer surface of the distal section. The electrodes are spaced along a length of the distal section and may be interspersed with at least one temperature sensor located between electrodes. The shape of the distal end of the device enables manipulation of the device by inserting its distal end in the tricuspid valve and retracting the device to bias the section having electrodes along the isthmus to achieve acceptable contact with the region so high frequency (e.g., RF) electrical energy delivered to the electrodes on the distal section of the EP device will form a lesion. Sections of the isthmus where treatment is desired but not reached by the section of the device biased against tissue by retraction may be ablated by repeating the steps of hooking the tricuspid valve at a different end location of the device and retracting to bias the electrodes against different tissue, simply advancing the section with electrodes to the desired site or retracting the device so a tip connected to an RF source will drop into a desired site where ablation may occur.
