An apparatus includes a housing having a gas-insulated compartment and a non-gas-insulated receptacle therein. The receptacle is disposed adjacent to the gas-insulated compartment and configured for removable insertion of a circuit interrupter assembly therein. A bus is disposed in the gas-insulated compartment, and a contact is disposed in the receptacle, electrically coupled to the bus in the gas-insulated compartment and configured to mate with a terminal of the circuit interrupter assembly when the circuit interrupter assembly is installed in the receptacle. The receptacle may be configured for insertion of an insulation-encapsulated circuit interrupter pole unit and the apparatus may include at least one flexible insulation member attached to a side wall of the receptacle and configured to engage a sidewall of the pole unit.

An apparatus includes a housing, at least one first gas-insulated circuit interrupter in the housing and at least one second gas-insulated circuit interrupter disposed in the housing above the at least one first gas-insulated circuit interrupter. The at least one first gas-insulated circuit interrupter and the at least one second gas-insulated circuit interrupter may be housed in respective ones of a first gas containment compartment and a second gas containment compartment vertically arranged in the housing. At least one first bus may be coupled to the at least one first gas-insulated circuit interrupter and at least one second bus may be coupled to the at least one second gas-insulated circuit interrupter. The buses may be disposed between the first and second gas-insulated circuit interrupters.

An improved bus bar apparatus is usable in high temperature electrical terminations and is configured to provide sufficient heat dissipation such that when connected at one end with a 90&#xb0; C. wire, the bus bar apparatus is at most only at 75&#xb0; C. at another end thereof, which end can be connected with a lower temperature electrical component such as a circuit interrupter. The bus bars apparatus may include bus bars that extend directly between the high temperature wires and the low temperature electrical component, or the bus bar apparatus may additionally include wires that are electrically interposed between the low temperature region of the bus bars and the electrical component. Additional cooling could be provided by employing oversized wires. The bus bars may additionally include fins, fans, or supplementary heat sinks to enhance thermal convection of the bus bar. The bus bar apparatus additionally can be provided with its own enclosure to be usable in a retrofit situation.

A circuit is structured to selectively electrically connect a source of alternating current power to a number of the electric vehicle connectors, selectively electrically connect the output of the power converter to a selected one of the different electric vehicle connectors, employ a plurality of different communication protocols for the different electric vehicle connectors, detect connectivity of one of the different electric vehicle connectors with an electric vehicle and responsively select one of a plurality of different charging modes, and communicate with the electric vehicle through the selected one of the different electric vehicle connectors.

An electrical switching apparatus includes a number of poles each having an elongated conductor with a first end and an opposite second end with a first terminal member. A circuit interrupter is electrically connected in series with the elongated conductor at the first end. A second terminal member electrically engages the first terminal member. A number of insulative skirts are disposed on the elongated conductor between opposite ends thereof. An insulative tube receives the insulative skirts and includes a first open end and an opposite second end carrying the second terminal member. A carrier carries the poles between (a) a first position in which the first terminal member electrically engages the second terminal member and the insulative tube receives the insulative skirts, and (b) a second position in which the first terminal member is electrically disconnected from the second terminal member and the skirts are withdrawn from the insulative tube.

The sensors sense information pertaining to operation of the electrical equipment. A first processor is located at or about the electrical equipment and receives the sensed information from the sensors as first information. A first transceiver cooperates with the first processor to transmit the first information as transmitted information. A second processor is located remote from the electrical equipment. A second transceiver cooperates with the first transceiver to receive the transmitted information as second information and communicate the same to the second processor. The second processor provides a notification pertaining to an immediate inspection and/or maintenance of the electrical equipment, and set points operatively associated with the sensed information. The set points pertain to a number of potential alarms regarding operation of the electrical equipment.

An electrical enclosure includes a housing having a front, a back, a plurality of sides, a plurality of sections disposed between the sides, at least one electrical apparatus, and a plurality of electrical bus members electrically connected to the electrical apparatus. The electrical apparatus is disposed within a first one of the sections of the housing, and a substantial portion of the electrical bus members are collectively disposed within a second one of the sections of the housing. At least the second one of the sections and the substantial portion of the electrical bus members collectively disposed therein are accessible from the front of the housing, regardless of whether the electrical apparatus is within or removed from the first one of the sections of the housing. An electrical bus assembly is also disclosed.
