Implementations of the disclosure describe an Open Automated Demand Response (OADR) endpoint device. A method of the disclosure includes receiving, by a processing device of an endpoint device, a first message comprising a first market energy price, determining whether a first quantity of energy has been consumed within a first time period by at least one energy device associated with the endpoint device, responsive to a determination that the first quantity of energy has been consumed by the at least one energy device within the first time period, determining whether the first market energy price is greater than a price threshold and responsive to a determination that the first market energy price is greater than the price threshold, causing the at least one energy device to stop consuming additional amounts of energy.

Open automated demand response (OpenADR) endpoint device for managing system loads and resources based on energy market indicators

A first Open Automatic Demand Response (OpenADR)-compliant server may receive from a second OpenADR 2.0-compliant server, an OpenADR 2.0-compliant virtual end node (VEN), or building energy management system, a first message that represents an OpenADR-conformant message. The first message may include an energy price associated with one or more energy consuming or producing devices. The first OpenADR-compliant server may provide one or more instructions to an endpoint device operable to control the one or more energy consuming or producing devices. Responsive to the first OpenADR-compliant server determining the energy price exceeds a first threshold, the first OpenADR-compliant server may transmit the one or more instructions to the endpoint device to cause the one or more energy consuming or producing devices to reduce operations in response to determining that the energy price exceeds the first threshold.

A system and method for short message service (SMS)-enabled Open Automated Demand Response (OADR) server and related communications is presented. The method includes receiving, by a processing device integrated with a first endpoint device, a first SMS message that represents a first OADR-conformant message, processing the first SMS message, and causing an energy consuming device to execute an action based on the first SMS message.

A device for connecting a ground rod to an electrical conductor utilizing a sleeve having a pair of open chambers that form a tapered configuration. The open chambers accommodate the ground rod and an electrical conductor and permit the same to engage one another when the ground rod and electrical conductor are forced completely into their respective chambers. The open chambers face on another and allow engagement of the ground rod with the electrical conductor inside the sleeve.

A solar collector device of the type adapted for heating water and the like. An elongated, opaque collector is provided with a plurality of radially extending vanes so as to define a hollow interior of stellate cross-section. Water is sprayed through a feeding conduit which extends through the hollow interior. As the sprayed water accumulates upon the interior vane surfaces, the collector wheel is rotated according to the weight of the deposited water. As the vane tips are rotated downwardly, the water is heated by conductive contact with the interior vane surfaces and by convection and radiation within the hollow interior. The heated water is then discharged downwardly through apertures in the vane tips into a collector pan. The invention is distinguished from the prior art in its introduction of the water upon the interior surfaces of collector vanes within a paddle wheel of stellate configuration, rather than upon the exterior surfaces of the vanes. The stellate configuration provides an increased area of exposure to the radiation of the sun within a compact unit and provides heating of the water by conduction, convection and radiation.
