Aspects of the present disclosure provide signal amplification. An example method generally includes amplifying a version of a first input signal with a power amplifier in a first state where a bias voltage of the power amplifier is set to a first voltage based on a first tracking mode; obtaining a first output signal of the power amplifier in a second state where the bias voltage is set to a second voltage less than the first voltage; determining a predistortion associated with the power amplifier based at least in part on the obtained first output signal; applying the predistortion to the first input signal; and amplifying a version of the predistorted first input signal with the power amplifier in a third state where the bias voltage is set to a third voltage based on a second tracking mode, wherein the third voltage is less than the first voltage.

Signal amplification circuitry

An apparatus is disclosed for waveform-tailored average power tracking. In an example aspect, the apparatus includes an amplifier, a power converter, and an average power tracking module. The amplifier is configured to amplify radio-frequency signals using a supply voltage. The radio-frequency signals have different waveforms. The power converter is coupled to the amplifier and configured to provide the supply voltage. The average power tracking module is coupled to the power converter and configured to adjust the supply voltage according to the different waveforms to cause the supply voltage to vary across at least two waveforms of the different waveforms for related average output powers.

Waveform-tailored average power tracking

Apparatus and methods for adjustment of spectral signal characteristics in polar modulators are described. A composite signal detection circuit is configured to detect when a signal trajectory of a composite signal provided to the polar modulator passes near the origin of a complex plane associated with the composite signal, and then adjusts the composite signal to pass through the origin. A spectral adjustment circuit is described to adjust AM and FM or PM components of the composite signal to reduce the deviation of an FM component of the composite signal.

Polar modulation with IQ zeroing

A set of modules from which custom passive backplanes can be assembled coplanarly couple together and are mounted on a rigid base plate which holds them coupled and coplanar. Each module has a plurality of orthogonally oriented card connectors. Preferably there is a CPU module into which is plugged a CPU card from which an ISA and a PCI originates. On one edge of the CPU module is an connector communicating with the ISA bus. This connector is for chaining together one or more ISA modules, each of which expands the ISA bus to three more ISA connectors. On an opposite edge of the CPU module is an connector communicating with the PCI bus. This connector is for chaining together one or more PCI modules, either 32-bit or 64-bit, each of which expands the PCI bus to three more PCI connectors. Power and ground can be jumpered from module to module or can be directly connected to any module.
