A water heater system includes a water heater and a thermal mixing valve. The water heater includes a tank and a cap that each define interior volumes. The interior volume of the tank includes a heating element is the location where fluid is heated, whereas the cap includes a volume within which the thermal mixing valve may be disposed. The thermal mixing valve pulls cool and warm water from the volume of the tank, and then discharges a mixed stream of fluid at a user desired temperature via an outlet.

A motor driven electromechanical actuator assembly includes a motor assembly having a motor shaft and a gear assembly. The gear assembly includes a plurality of gears with a belt drive that couples the motor assembly to the actuator output shaft. The actuator assembly also includes a position sensor system configured to determine a rotational characteristic of the drive shaft.

A water heater includes a water tank and a flow-through heating element. The water tank contains heated water. The flow-through heating element is located in the lower portion of the water tank and heats water as water is passed through an interior channel of the heating element. In another configuration, the water heater further includes a recirculation line and the heating element further includes an input end external of the water tank to receive water to be heated and an output end to output heated water into the water tank. The recirculation line transports water from the water tank to the input end of the heating element that is external of the water tank.

A valve assembly () for an aircraft water supply system. The valve assembly () comprises a valve member (), an electrical motor (), and a mechanical returning mechanism (). When electrical power is provided, the motor () can be controlled to move the valve member () from a first position and to a second position. The mechanism () is operably connected to the valve member () and mechanically biases it towards the first position. If a power loss occurs when the valve member () is in the second position, the returning mechanism () non-electrically (e.g., mechanically) returns the valve member () to the first position.

Valve assembly for aircraft water supply system

An aircraft drain device ( ) for interposition between a potable water line (e.g., the drain line from an ice drawer) and a gray water line leading to a drainmast or other external drain. The drain device ( ) includes a housing ( ), an inlet ( ) adapted for connection to the potable water line, an outlet ( ) adapted for connection to the gray water line, and a piston ( ). The preferably floatable piston ( ) is movable between a normal operation position, whereat potable water can flow to the drainmast, and a back-up operation position, whereat the potable water is protected from contact with the gray water. The invention is in the field of heat shields for aircraft wheel and brake assemblies. More particularly, the invention relates to such heat shields having removable sections. According to an aspect of the invention, a heat shield is provided for attachment to an aircraft wheel having a hub and a tube well concentric with the hub, a web interconnecting the hub and the tube well, and a plurality of torque bars fixed to the wheel generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the wheel and spaced from the tube well. The heat shield comprises a plurality of heat shield sections to be disposed between adjacent torque bars and spaced from the tube well, and a plurality of elongate heat shield carriers to be fixed to the wheel generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the wheel and spaced from the tube well with the heat shield carriers superposing the torque bars and engaging the plurality of heat shield sections. The plurality of heat shield sections and the plurality of elongate heat shield carriers define a generally cylindrical wall concentric with the tube well and defining an annular space therebetween.

A friction brake includes a friction disk assembly having high dynamic stability against undesired vibration during a braking event. The friction disk assembly comprises an annular structural carrier of carbon and/or ceramic or other suitable structual material, preferably a fiber reinforced composite material, including a plurality of recessed regions and torque drive notches spaced around its circumferential direction, and a friction lining of carbon and/or ceramic or other suitable structural material, preferably a fiber reinforced composite material, mounted on the carrier, the friction lining having a flat wear (rubbing) face and an obverse face including raised areas corresponding to and matingly engaging the recessed regions of the carrier to prevent rotation of the lining relative to the carrier. The lining may be formed of of virgin or recycled carbon, ceramic or other suitable friction material. The lining may be retained to the carrier by mechanical fasteners such as rivets or clips. The assembly may be refurbished by simple replacement of the worn lining without need of machining. The carrier and the lining are preferably formed as unitary annular members.

A friction disk assembly comprises an annular structural carrier including a plurality of recessed regions and torque drive notches spaced around its circumferential direction, and a friction lining mounted on the carrier, the friction lining having a flat wear (rubbing) face and an obverse face including raised areas corresponding to and matingly engaging the recessed regions of the carrier to prevent rotation of the lining relative to the carrier. The carrier may be formed of steel or other suitable structural material. The lining may be formed of virgin or recycled carbon, ceramic or other suitable friction material. The lining may be retained to the carrier by rivets. The lining may be provided with a structural casing configured to engage the recessed regions of the carrier. The assembly may be refurbished by simple replacement of the worn lining. The carrier and the lining may be formed as unitary annular members or as segments of annular members.
