A cable termination assembly configured for mounting to an interior portion of a printed circuit board. The cable termination assembly has a frame shaped to receive a paddle card to which a plurality of cables are terminated. A lid, when closed, may force the paddle card into contact with an interposer, which in turn may be pressed into a printed circuit board on which the cable termination assembly is mounted. Electrical signals may pass between the cables and traces in the printed circuit board via the paddle card and interposer. The termination assembly may be mounted near a processor or other high speed component on the printed circuit board, enabling high speed signals to be coupled with low loss between a periphery of the printed circuit board, or even a location off the printed circuit board, and the high speed component.

A tamper-resistant housing assembly may include an internal housing that is wrapped in a flex circuit. The flex circuit can cover an outside surface of the internal housing and can carry a conductive electrical trace. The electrical trace can define a continuous electrical path from a first contact pad to a second contact pad, such that piercing the an outer surface of the housing through to the inner surface of the housing interrupts the continuous electrical path.

A mezzanine connector for connecting first and second circuit boards includes a number of wafers side-by-side arranged with each other and an organizer for unifying the wafers. Each wafer includes an insulative housing, a number of contacts fixed in the insulative housing and a shielding plate assembled to a first side of the insulative housing in order to shield the contacts of the adjacent wafers. Each contact includes a retaining portion fixed in the insulative housing, a first tail extending from a first end of the retaining portion for being mounted to the first circuit board, and a second tail extending from a second end of the retaining portion for being mounted to the second circuit board.

An electrical connector for connecting a sheet-like member includes terminals (or) each comprising a base portion (or), a bearing beam (or) and a contact beam (or) substantially parallel extending from the base portion; a housing () including an upper wall (), a lower wall () and a rear wall, and having an inner surface defining a mouth () for receiving the sheet-like member and an exterior surface provided with a number of grooves () thereon, each groove comprising an upper groove () defined along the upper wall for accommodating the bearing beam, a lower groove () defined along the lower wall for accommodating the contact beam, and a rear groove defined on the rear wall for accommodating the base portion; and an actuator () pivotally engaging with the bearing beams for establishing electrical connection between the sheet-like member and the contact beams.

A method of making an electrical connector includes the steps of: providing a connector body () having an insert () defining a recessed area () at one side and a number of channels () at an opposite side; assembling a ground bus () to the recessed area of the insert, the ground bus including a carrier strip () with a number of fingers () extending therefrom; assembling a number of signal contacts () to the channels of the insert, each signal contact including a board mounting portion (); and displacing the carrier strip such that each finger extends into space () between the mounting portions of two adjacent signal contacts.

Method of making a straddle mount connector

A connector assembly () used to interconnect a primary circuit board () to an intermediate circuit board () includes a one-piece insulated housing () and an outer shell () partially enclosing outside of the housing (). The housing () has a space () formed from a mounting side of the housing () to the primary circuit board () and a face () formed at another mounting side of the housing () to the intermediate circuit board (). A plurality of conductors () is retained in the housing and extends from the space () to the face () and each conductor () has one tail portion () to be press-fit on the intermediate circuit board () and another tail portion to be engaged with a corresponding hole () on the primary circuit board (). A mating extender electrically engages with a pair of complementary connectors. The mating extender comprises an insulative housing having first and second mating sections, and a number of wafers parallelly assembled into the insulative housing. Each wafer comprises an insulative frame and a plurality of contacts each formed by a pair of electrically stacked semi-contacts. Each contact has an intermediate portion retained in the insulative frame, a pair of first contact tails and a pair of second contact tails at opposite ends of the intermediate portion and received in the first and the second mating sections of the insulative housing, respectively.
