The invention provides a modular housing assembly system having a first housing assembly and second housing assembly. The first housing assembly has first contacts mounted thereon. The first contacts have elongated contact sections. The second housing assembly has second contacts mounted thereon. Each of the second contacts has more than one resilient contact sections spaced apart from each other along the longitudinal axis of the second contact. As the first housing assembly and the second housing assembly are moved into engagement, at least one resilient contact section of each of the second contacts are positioned in electrical engagement with the elongated contact sections of the first contacts. This configuration of the first contacts and second contacts allows the first contacts to make electrical engagement with second contacts of housing assembly or second contacts of housing assembly even though the housing assemblies have different configurations which causes the second contacts to be positioned at a different height than second contacts.

Low profile contact

A connector assembly configured to sealably engage with a mating connector. The connector assembly includes a plug assembly that has a mating end configured to be inserted into the cavity of the mating connector. The connector assembly also includes a collar that surrounds the plug assembly. The connector assembly also includes a sleeve member that is positioned between the collar and the plug assembly. The sleeve member surrounds the plug assembly about the central axis and includes a plurality of fingers that extend toward the mating end. The sleeve member is stamped and formed from a common piece of sheet material. The fingers are biased away from the central axis in a flared arrangement when the collar is in the withdrawn position. The lingers press against the wall surface of the mating connector when the collar is moved from the withdrawn position to the locked position.

Connector having a sleeve member

A switch system for use with a printed circuit board is provided. The switch system includes: a switch base; an anti-overstress member or feature formed in the switch base; a plurality of retention legs formed in the base for retaining a printed circuit board, wherein a first via is in electrical communication with one of the plurality of retention legs; a spring-loaded contact formed in the base for contacting the anti-overstress feature, and wherein a second via is in electrical communication with the spring-loaded contact. A printed circuit board may be mounted in and attached to the plurality of retention legs.

PCB mountable switch

A connector assembly includes a boot body, a contact housing, and a contact. The boot body extends between a boot coupling end and a boot back end. The back end receives a cable that includes a conductor. The boot body defines an internal chamber. The contact housing extends between a housing mating end and a housing back end. The contact housing includes a housing coupling element between the housing mating end and the housing back end. The housing back end is coupled to the boot coupling end. The housing mating end is configured to mate with a mating connector to electrically connect the connector assembly and the mating connector. The contact is held in the housing and electrically connected to the conductor. An adhesive is disposed in the internal chamber to secure the boot body and the contact housing together.

Connector assembly having a plurality of discrete components

A plurality of interface modules (200,300,400,500) having identical first mating interfaces (202,302) for mating with the mating face (100) of a cable tap connector (10), to enable interconnection therewith at second mating interfaces by different types of electrical conductors. A set of contacts in each module have identical first contact sections (212,318) along the first mating interface, and the contacts are secured in the module housing (206,306) under an insulative retention plate (210,360) that assuredly secures the contacts in proper position for accurate positioning of the first contact sections. The insulative plate (210,360) also protects the first contact sections during handling of the module.

Electrical interface connector

Cable tap connector (10) applied to a cable (12) at an end thereof. End cap (70) is urged over the cable end (72) for sealing thereof and includes projections (84) that seat in openings (82) of either the connector housing (20) or the connector cover (22).

Cable end cap for power cable tap connector

A connector (10,200,300) for termination to a multiconductor cable (12,306) along a length thereof at a point remote from an end thereof, such as after installation of the cable within a premises, and including a housing (20,202,302) and a cover (22,204,304) securable to each other around the cable. The housing contains a plurality of contacts (60,220,320) with first contact sections (66,234,328) in slots (62,236,330) that open onto the cable face adjacent the cable jacket. Upon actuation of actuators (90,222,326), the contacts associated with the actuators are urged downwardly against the cable jacket, penetrating the jacket (14) and compressively engaging the cable's conductors (16). Second contact sections (68,232,348) are exposed along the mating face (72,214,310) of the connector for mating with complementary contacts of an interface module (400).

Power cable tap connector

Connector (10) terminatable to a power cable (12) for tapping thereof, and having a housing (20), a clamp member (40) and an actuator (80) all linked by fasteners (100) when assembled around a length of the cable (12). Actuation of the actuator (80) urges the housing (20) toward and against the clamp member (40) with cable (12) nestled in a channel therebetween defined by grooves (30,44). IDC contacts (22) of the housing (20) extend toward cable (12) within groove (30) and establish terminations with respective conductors (14) of the power cable upon termination. The actuator (80) is cradled between slotted arms (48) of the clamp member and includes a cam (82) bearing against the clamp member when actuated to move the actuator away from the clamp member, with links (100) carried thereby and in turn pulling the housing against the clamp member.

An electrical connector (10) terminating a multi-wire cable (56) and adapted for mating contact with another such connector of identical construction. The connector comprises a plurality of hermaphroditic contact members (12) retained within a housing (14,16). The housing includes channels (52) for holding the wires (54) of the cable and the contact members further have insulation displacing contact portions (36) adapted to engage respective ones of the wires. The housing is formed of two parts with a latching mechanism (58,60, 62,64).

Stackable electrical connector

An electrical connector (1) constructed to mate with a connector (1) of duplicate construction comprising: a front mating ring (3), multiple contacts (4) brushing respective concentric circuits (10) on a rotatable circuit board (9), said contacts (4) being connected to respective wires (16) of an electrical cable (17), a rear facing socket (28) receiving a front mating ring (3) of another, duplicate connector (1), and the front mating ring (3) and the rear facing socket (28) being connected electrically together.

Stackable connector

An electrostatic discharge contact (70) comprises a proximal portion (72), a distal portion (74), and substantially flat outside (76) and inside surfaces (78) extending therebetween. Retention dimples (80) are disposed in spaced-apart relation on the proximal portion (72) of the outside surface (76). The retention dimples (80) are adapted to engage a corresponding cavity (100) in an insulative connector housing (15). An arm (82) extends away from proximal portion (72) of the electrostatic discharge contact (70). The arm (82) includes a rounded distal end (86) that is adapted to electrically engage a portion of a board mount (130) that is already assembled to the electrical connector (10).

Electrostatic discharge contacts for blind mating connectors

An electrical connector assembly (1) comprises, a first electrical connector (2), electrical contacts (7) in the first electrical connector extending to a mating face (6) of the connector (2), alignment posts (12) and first ground contacts (10) along the alignment posts (12), both of which project beyond the mating face (6); and another, mating electrical connector (3) provided with post receiving cavities (11) with second ground contacts (10) in the cavities (11) engaging the first ground contacts (10) along the posts (12).

Blind mating guides with ground contacts

An electrical connector (2) for mounting on a circuit board (4) comprises a housing (8) wiht through passages (10) each receiving an electrical terminal (38) having a transverse lance (76) with a free end (78) lodged in a recess (28) in a side wall (16) of the housing (2). Each terminal (38) has a solder tail (66) for engaging a pad (6) on the board (4), and from which projects a solder tail (66) having a soldering portion (68) outside the housing (2), for soldering to the pad (6) and being flexible about a reduced cross-section part (98). The foot (62) and the tail (66) have sheared edges (94 and 96). Sheared edge (96) engages the pad (6) to provide for high terminal density. The terminals (38) are moved inwardly of their passages (10) against the resilient action of their lances (76) when the connector (2) is applied to the board (4), to urge the sheared edge (96) against the pads (6) while the tails (66) are soldered to the pads (6).
