A video pass-through computing system includes a head-mounted display device including a display, a camera configured to image a physical scene according to an exposure timing, and an augmented reality control circuit configured to receive a virtual image pixel stream and composite the camera image pixel stream with the virtual image pixel stream to generate a display image pixel stream output to the display, and if a corresponding pixel of the camera image pixel stream is not in temporal synchronization with a pixel of the virtual image pixel stream adjust the exposure timing of the camera.

Video pass-through computing system

An augmented reality display device includes a near-eye display configured to present imagery to a user eye. A camera is configured to capture light from a real-world environment and produce output useable to contribute to the imagery presented to the user eye via the near-eye display. The camera includes an aperture configured to receive the light from the real-world environment and an image sensor configured to respond to the light received from the real-world environment by generating sensor output signals useable to produce images on the near-eye display depicting the real-world environment. One or more optical elements provide an optical path for light from the aperture to the image sensor, the optical path having a length that is within a threshold of a distance between the user eye and the aperture of the camera.

Camera for augmented reality display

Edits on a content item, such as a document, are divided into microtasks. The microtasks associated with a document can be automatically identified based on a workflow or can be identified by a user associated with the content item or an administrator. At a later time, the user can complete the microtasks for a content item using an application associated with their smart phone or tablet. The application may present the microtasks in a game-like environment where the user can compete with other users based on metrics such as number of microtasks completed in a day or fastest completion time. In addition, the user can earn rewards such as badges, coupons, or credits by completing microtasks. In this way, users can use time that would have been wasted playing games to complete their content items, while still experiencing some of the fun and competition associated with the games.

Providing rewards and metrics for completion of microtasks

Various techniques of content virality determination and visualization are disclosed herein. For example, a method of determining network content virality metric includes constructing a diffusion cascade for a computer network content based on a plurality of time points at which individual users adopt the network content and connection information of the users. The method also includes calculating, with a processor, a virality metric of the network content based on a structural characteristic of the constructed diffusion cascade. Based on the calculated virality metric, one may determine if the network content is viral.

Content virality determination and visualization

A first image is provided to a projector, which is configured to project the first image on a projection screen. A captured first image is received from a camera configured to capture the projected first image and an occluding object between the projector and the projection screen. A key including a difference between the captured first image and the first image is generated. A second image is modified according to the key to generate a new second image. The new second image is provided to the projector, which is further configured to project the new second image.

Projected image enhancement

Technologies are described herein for providing sterilization of a touchscreen or other tactile input surface of a user input device. A self-sterilizing user input device includes a touchscreen for receiving tactile user input and an ultraviolet (UV) light source that emits UV light onto a touchscreen at a sterilization wavelength. A controller selectively activates and deactivates the UV light source according to whether a user is at or near the user input device. According to one aspect, the user input device includes a backlight to illuminate the touchscreen. The UV light source is positioned with the backlight to provide the UV light from a rear side of the touchscreen.

Self-sterilizing user input device

A destination analysis module is described which estimates at least one destination of a user given a partial path taken by the user within a geographic area. The destination analysis module operates by detecting a mode of transportation that a user uses to traverse the path (e.g., automobile, public transportation, walking, etc.). The destination analysis module then loads a model associated with the mode of transportation into a destination prediction module and estimates at least one destination based on the path and the model. The model has various components that depend on the mode of transportation, such as routing network information and prior probability information.

The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or a method that facilitates entering a character via an input device. An interface can receive a portion of input data from an input device, wherein the input data is at least one of an analog input from an analog directional input associated with the input device or a button input from a button associated with the input device. An enhanced input component can utilize a user interface (UI) overlay corresponding to the input device to select a character in which the UI overlay includes a segmented ring with each sector having two or more characters. The enhanced input component can enter a character for data entry based upon an analog directional input that selects a sector on the segmented ring and a button input that selects a corresponding character within the segment.

Efficient text input for game controllers and handheld devices

A virtual space for displaying the pointer in a visually correct manner on a multi-monitor computer system is presented. The virtual space is kept separate from the internal display surface of the multi-monitor computer system upon which information is written to be displayed on the monitors. The virtual space is established such that the virtual display areas of the virtual space reflect the visual arrangement of the monitors. The virtual space captures all pointer movements, such as by a mouse or other input device, and moves the pointer within the virtual space. On a pointer update frame, the pointer is mapped from the virtual space to the internal display space such that the pointer may be displayed on the monitors.
