The invention relates to a system and method for caching a network connection. The system sustains connections between a server and one or more back-end databases. The server may establish multiple connections with one or more back-end databases based on data requests from one or more users. The server may determine one or more back-end databases from which the data requests may be satisfied. After receiving the data, the users, using an end-user device, may request disconnection of a connection between the end-user device and the server. The server, however, sustains the connection with the back-end database from which the data was retrieved. The server may use this connection to satisfy other data requests without re-establishing a connection with that back-end database.

An email proxy server system gives the user access to all of their email accounts through a unified port. The proxy server maintains a mail registration database associating the user's ID with multiple email accounts, which may be hosted on different Internet providers and otherwise. The email messages stored on the email hosts may be in POP3 format, which configuration the proxy server imitates to give the user an impression of transparent access to all of their email accounts. Because the ability to access individual mail boxes is unbound from particular internet addresses, one user may maintain any number of email mail boxes at different hosting servers, and change those addresses, without having to reprogram client, server, and other software. Moreover, the presentation of the integrated interface of the invention permits system administrators to attach service modules, such as billing and other packages directly to the proxy server to serve each of the different email accounts, without having to tailor those individual services to individual hosts hardware.

Searches may also be performed for Unicode and ASCII strings. The system may parse the extended regular expression to be searched and search one or more object stores for extended regular expressions satisfying the search. The extended regular expressions located may then be presented to the user.

A system for computer-aided heuristic adaptive attribute matching comprises a server for receiving a status message and for further processing of the status message according to the following steps: (i) preparing a candidate list of the candidates; (ii) preparing a search list of search attributes; (iii) eliminating non-matching candidates; and, (iv) selecting a matching candidate. A method for computer-aided heuristic adaptive attribute matching in accordance with the invention comprises four steps. Those steps are: (1) preparing a candidate list comprising a plurality of candidates; (2) preparing a search list comprising at least one search attribute; (3) fuzzy matching at least one known attribute to the search attribute responsive to more than one candidate existing; and (4) returning a result of the fuzzy matching.

A method of storage management for an electronic mail system comprises the following steps: (1) receiving information from a first remote connection; (2) writing the information into memory as a distribution, the distribution having at least one object and at least one attribute; (3) storing the distribution to a storage medium as a plurality of files; (4) retrieving at least one of the files from the storage medium; and (5) delivering the distribution to at least a second remote connection.

A system and method for distribution and storage of electronic mail information is disclosed. The system comprises: a server; a status rendezvous procedure (102) residing on the server; and a distribution storage facility comprising a distribution management system (112) residing on the server; and a container management system (114) residing on the server. The method for distribution and storage of electronic mail information comprises the following steps: (1) receiving inbound information from a first remote connection, the inbound information comprising a distribution; (2) processing the distribution, the processing resulting in the distribution being stored in memory; (3) writing the distribution to a storage medium; (4) paging the distribution from the storage medium into memory; (5) passing a part of the distribution in memory to at least a second remote connection; and (6) determining an intended recipient in response to the presence of a reported recipient.
